Failure to keep LeGarrette on the reservation is a direct failure...

Not exactly a good measuring stick (Bell didn't do much running against Ravens), but I see your point. I personally think we needed a good pass catching/ blocking RB as a replacement. Seems Harris is more in that Blount style of running as opposed to Bell's. Tate just didn't have enough time in the system to be effective.

Exactly, cutting Blount wasn't the failure, not replacing him with experience was.

And they essentially admitted that failure when push came to shove and Bell went down, instead of starting Harris/Archer (guys they claimed they had utmost confidence in), they started a guy that they signed 3 days before the game over them.

Or... it was a move designed to confuse the Rats.

Or... Tate, being a well-travelled vet, had more experience of the 'big games', or showed something in training that made them go with him from the start.

I'm not wholly against your point, but I think there could well be more to it than admitting failure.

This, and people wonder why I have a problem with KC/MT. Ask yourself, are the Steelers trying to be the best they can be? This is just one example of how these two drop the ball.

Or they should have worked the heck out of the empty sets . Should have been doing that since OTA'S Bell or no Bell . If Coach T wants to be multiple then you have to practice it. I bet the Pats break the CBA rules to insert and practice all their looks.

The union reps wouldn't let that happen but they do build on their stuff all season long. Pats are a team the gets better though the season (barring significant injuries) because they put more stuff in every week and don't seem to take much out.

I am sure the Pats have found away around the rules. They just look like they have had more reps than other Teams . They probably have a field set up in the film room . Or they have cook outs for the QB and the WR'S and Bill says bring your playbooks we have some new stuff to insert.

Nope . But I know some Coaches will bend or break any rule they can if it helps them win. How would someone know if they practiced out of sight ? To me it's like a truck driver they cooked log books for years , before the law got better at catching them.

Who's to say that some Coaches are not following the rules ? You know Bill will bend and stretch the rules he has proven that .

It is one thing to get around a NFL rule, quiet another to screw around with a union contract clause when the guys you are asking to break the rules are all union members. If you have never worked in a union shop you can't even imagine how protective union members are about their contract.

True, but the NFLPA ain't exactly the Teamsters or USW. They are much more individual oriented and competitive.

I'll give you that, but to expect 53 union members to look the other way while you violate a union contract is going to lead to sorrow.

Or lead to Championships and more money because you get more money when you win. Even the practice squad guys get like an extra 8 Grand a week for every week they keep on playing.

Is that worth breaking the rules ? Is that worth keeping your mouth shut ?

As stated it may not be the whole 53 just key members who would rather win than anything else.

That wouldn't be a factor at this time of the year. There are no rules about what coaches can do during the season, only in the off season.

Of course there are . Practices can only be so long . Only so many practices a week. Only so many padded practices . Not sure what all else but rules that do restrict practice in some way or another all year long .

    Ah yes, my bad.
» The league has also placed limits on the number of full-contact padded practices during the regular season. Teams are permitted a total of 14 for the year with 11 of those practices conducted during the first 11 weeks of the season (a maximum of one per week).

One of the things players fought for in the new CBA is less practice time, no coach is sneaking in additional practices.

You don't know that for sure . If anyone would do it or could do it then my money would be on Coach Bill . They always seem more polished and precise than other Teams , maybe its all the extra time during the off season , but they looked more polished for some reason that's for sure .

No, no I do, it's pretty far fetched. I wouldn't put it past BB to try but he's not. In todays day and age, no way that doesnt get out and as I said, players fought for it, they're aren't going to turn around and say, "Oh ok, never mind what we were holding out for, more practice, yeah!"

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if practice injuries went dow, up, or stayed the same since this has been passed?

If the Steelers kept Blount on the team, they would lose respect of the other players.

they shouldn't have kept blount they should have signed a replacement or give some snaps to harris , you couldn't invest only on one rb our running game

I get why this conversation is taking place, but I'm not sure the running game is why the Steelers lost to the Ravens.

2 end zone misses: 1 drop by Bryant and 1 by Brown (forced out by Ravens DB). Add one good stop by the Steelers defense to prevent a Ravens TD. You're looking at 31-23 Steelers...
