To this day of getting to that super-bowl and winning it will always be one of my favorites. I'm sorry but with our coaching staff we have now we would have not gotten to the super-bowl that year. This team dose not have the magic if you want to call it that. There is no fire on this team. If I was head coach I would be spitting way worse that Bill Cowher ever thought of. Start the dam fire under this team. If a fire was under your ass what would you do?

Stop loosing to crappy teamssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. OMG :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I'm sure they'll get right on it as soon as you explain to them what loosing is.

I honestly believe that team made it to the superbowl for the same reason the Ratbirds did a few years ago. The 2005 superbowl had Bettis, as a leader, retiring and the Rats has Ray Lewis, a leader, retiring. Both teams had a demanding presence in the huddle, someone their teammates looked up to (both inspired great play, but for different reasons, the Rats were afraid of getting stabbed).

Many people didn't think that team was any good at the time until they went on a playoff run won the SB. That team had 3 straight losses that hurt their chances to make the post season. I guess people like to rewrite history in their minds?

All the fire in the world doesn't win games. Especially in the heat of battle.

Execution and playing as mistake free football as possible wins games.

I've found that the two can be connected. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog."

Many times, it's that fight or "fire," if you will, that can cause intense focus to perform to a high level. But that's just my experience.

Either way, you are correct in that execution is key.

I think what causes players to perform at a high level is their dedication, training, practice, and experience. In the heat of battle no one is thinking about "fire". When someone is dead tired fire isn't how they make through. I don't believe any human can play off fire/emotions or adrenaline for 60 mins. Those tend to happen in spurts.

For me what this often boils down to for fans is this:
Win and the team has fire ie vs Ravens & Colt.
Lose and the team needs fire ie vs the Jets.

It seems the league is becoming a league where upsets are becoming more common place. One reason is because there isn't much that separates teams talent wise. Mistakes and poor execution are what usually determines the difference between a win or a loss.

If anything the last 10 years should have taught us that winning the Superbowl is about getting hot at the right time. The Steelers got hot. It was their DENSITY :lolol:
