Landry doesn't have pocket awareness, another product of playing in a shotgun offense in college. He got rid of the ball quick probably only had 2 reads with his WRs wide open in college.

I agree mostly, especially with the notion that the pieces aren't there on the second string o-line (since we use Adams there among other under-performers) but rookie Ben was eons ahead of Jones in his second season. Obviously Ben is much better and that is still comparing apples to oranges even back then, but second year Ben would absolutely look much better behind this O-line, Ben was more mobile back then (the WRs are better this year than in 2005 too), but had all of the other tools. That is why he is a better QB.

Also, what pieces did Tom Brady have on offense when he won his rings, outside of a solid line? Obviously Landry isn't Brady, but great QBs can make his other bad players around him look average or good.

I don't have a horse in this race, hated the pick, just making an observation.

I think it takes more time and better surrounding players then Jones has had to work with before making any kind of determination on what type of QB he will be.

That is basically the whole reason I started the thread BF, although I had no thoughts on the pick good or bad but when it happened I thought he would make a solid DLG QB for Haley to work into his system. I saw a lot of negativity about Jones going on in the game day thread and thought havng a discussion about his pros and cons would wipe away some of the misconceptions that were happening. He has played in six games now in two years and not even whole games just bits and pieces and he is being asked to do things he isn't used to. I would like to see him play with a ground game and a gameplan tailored to his strengths before I say one way or the other about him.

He is still on his rookie deal so keeping two more years hurts nothing. Grad didn't cover himself with glory on Saturday either and the kid HinesWardHOF likes apparently isn't showing the coaching staff enough to warrant getting to play in a meaningless game. So keep coaching him and see what he has got until something better becomes available. Remember this is the team that let Brian St. Pierre be the #2 and #3 for years and he never showed anything either not to mention Dennis Dixon who had more athletic talent but was in the wrong system. Jones is here for a bit longer

Nah, I wouldn't read that in to last night. It seemed to me they wanted to give Gradowski a longer outing, and the first team were probably in longer than they anticipated.

That's not to say he won't go, of course, just that I wouldn't take it from whether he played int he game or not.

Sure will. Brandon Kay might even get the chance to run for his life for a couple drives.

Sure would like to see how Kay looks. I'm surprised he has yet to take a snap in a game!
