DHB would smoke Wallace on and off the field...DHB does have suspect hands he has had some injury problems , but make no mistake he is the fastest player in the NFL and he has tape to prove it ....

I remember a couple of NFL plays that he is 20 yards behind the nearest DB and the QB misses him by 15 yards....I also remember seeing him 20 yards behind the DB'S and flat out dropping the ball.... So let's see if Ben can hit him and see if he can catch more than he drops...If this happens this signing could be huge...

Watch his College highlights if you don't think DHB can fly he takes a screen pass and makes the whole D look like Redzone Redman trying to catch the Road Runner.

No he does not have the tape to prove it. He has 1 career TD where he caught the ball 20+ yards downfield ... Wallace has 23, and they entered the league together.

The tape means getting separation, the tape means out running the Defense ....The tape in this case does not mean TD'S ...It means is he fast ,,,the answer is hell yes....Now production has been crap ,but as a DHB fan and a Steeler fan I hope it was all because the QB sucked....

I wonder if DHB can return kicks with his speed he should be effective, not as a punt returner though his hands aren't good enough.

Good to see you back, PWP.

I have no doubt that Haley can work to DHB's strengths. My only concerns are a) can he block and b) as Deljzc mentioned earlier, Ben has often struggled to target the deep ball.

Utilising both DHB and Brown's speed will also depend on how well we run the playaction, which with Bell now becomes much more of a weapon.

  6. In four years with the Raiders, Heyward-Bey scored only 11 touchdowns and never broke 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.
He then spent 2013 with the Indianapolis Colts. Despite playing 615 offensive snaps according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), he caught a mere 29 of the 62 passes thrown his way for 309 yards and one touchdown.

He was said to be the best blocking wr for the Colt. He is also a solid special teams player

Ok? So you're saying on a football field he's actually slow then? I don't care how you spin it DHB is fast off or on a football field.

I'm not trying to say this was a great signing or that DHB is a great receiver but don't try to tell me the guy isn't fast.

  10. Fast and productive are two different traits. I'll take productivity over a bullet with hands of stone.

He's as fast as you want him to be ... as long as he doesn't have to do anything but accelerate in a straight line. Unfortunately in football, that is rarely called for.

You mean those HOF QB's he had throwing to him in Oakland???? And Luck is a good QB but hes not better then Ben, not yet anyway. Ben and Wallace set a franchise record for most TDs over 40 yards.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the guy is fast as hell and can take the top of the defense. Going to be hard to double up AB while committing someone over the top.

    :this!:

Could be a better move than many are thinking. Hard to judge anyone's potential when playing for the Raiders - that organization is such a mess.

If DHB has bad hands, what makes people think he will change. Haven't we learned from Ike that when you can't catch by the time your in the NFL, your NEVER going to be able to catch. :hmmm:

I think it was Snack that reminded me of that very thing when I expressed concern over Mike Mitchell's signing. I hope DHB's career can be salvaged in Pittsburgh!

  17. We will just have to wait and see. Btw love the avatar Aero.

Maybe Heyward-Bey can have a surprising, breakout year with the Steelers. However, his history—which includes being thrown to by a truly talented quarterback in Andrew Luck—doesn't make it all that likely.

The best-case scenario is that Heyward-Bey can play a few snaps, make the occasional play and help mentor the younger receivers on the roster.
The worst case is that he doesn't make it to Week 1, and in that case, the Steelers haven't invested so much into him that the cap hit becomes an issue.

The answer is clear - we have signed DHB to be our new no. 2 cornerback.

I think somewhat overlooked last year were the contributions of Richard Mann as WR coach. Brown,Sanders and Cotch all had pretty significant improvement in their numbers. I'm sure part of it is more time jn Haley's scheme but those 28 years of coaching experience can't hurt If so it may bode well for new WR's.

Why so much discussion over a guy who is counting, what $850K against the cap and who may not even be on the opening day roster?

Without actual games to talk about, some people have to jump on anything to show how bad our team are.

I fully suspect that, in the quieter parts of the off-season, we'll see full-blown discussions about the decline in quality of the coffee at Steelers Head Office. Tomlin's inability to control the amount of change available in the vending machines will surely come to light. Comparisons with the Patriots and their uncanny knack to choose the best dark roast below market price will be almost inevitable.

If you compare their their production level over their careers, you'll see they are pretty similar. Sanders for sure has better hands then DHB but DHB possess the ability to take the top off of the defense which opens things up underneath, a staple of Haleys system. Moore is better then Cotch, again similar numbers but Moore can take anything to the house, Cotch is good for a first down.

Ty its nice to be able to get the time to get on..I have follwed DHB since college and he is a excellent blocker and has unmatched speed ...I think he has problems catching that result from him trying to think to much...I think him and Brown together will work wonders for our WR screen game..I am still a huge fan of the Bubble Screen wheel route...

I am very interested to see how Teams try and defend these 2 when part of the trip set ..Brown commands so much attention I feel this will allow DHB to have a great year .IMO this is the best WR and the best QB that DHB has played with so I have high hopes that he can turn in Cotchery like #'s and open up things for everyone else both in the running game and the passing game....

I would much rather have him than Wallace ,he is a Team player and he doesn't take plays off .He is hungry and has talent ,so lets see if this situation is the perfect fit for him.....It very well could be and if not really a small risk for what we got him for...
