    tired of reading about high priced free agents on Steelers radar. Steelers never sign the high priced free agent cause their broke. Kate Upton is on my radar doesn't mean IM going to get her

    Not a very good analogy, I'd say the Steelers landing a top tier FA are a zillion times greater then you ever landing Kate Upton :lolol:

    Anyway, how many have you read about? I've seen 2 reports so far for top guys, actually, I wouldn't even call the ones they have looked at as the top guys.

    Yes

    they will probably pick up a few free agents but they won't overpay as usual and it will be after all of the excitement is over and they can get bargains...as usual...there will be no bidding wars here

    Maybe they can sign another FAgent, like Levi Brown, the steelers aren't very good at signing FAs, they jump on cheap FAs and then find out they signed a slug, stay out of the FA market if your just going to settle for cheap over quality.......

    This probably isn't going to be popular, but the Steelers use free agency, by model, the way good teams should. They go for value, low risk (cheap) FA's to add depth, and reserve funds to re-sign their own. Developing your own guys and building through the draft is how good teams stay good by rule. GM's who make a bunch of splash signings in free agency are usually unemployed in the not too distant future.

    Normally I would agree with this but a couple of bad drafts have put us in an unfamiliar position. I think they need to target a FA a little higher on the list then they usually do.

    We drafted Haggans and Foote... A 5th and a 4th I think.

    Farrior and Clark were FA pickups though.

    I was listening to sports radio and they were discussing this topic. I don't recall each and every team they mentioned but the point was pretty clear...in the last 5 years the teams that have made the biggest splash in free agency have not faired very well. Wish I could recall the teams that they mentioned but I was too busy eating donuts and trying to catch a nap. I seem to remember Dallas and Jacksonville being mentioned. I, too, believe in the model that the Steelers are using (lucky for them I just validated what they do).
