Actually I was wrong I thought bell got a first down. It was 2nd and goal with 1:25 left. There would have been 20-25 seconds left

 

Why give a team 1:25 or close to it to beat you when you can go up by 3 with about 30 secs left?

 

IF they want a shot at the 2nd Seed or even home field in the Wild Card they'll need to try. I believe that maybe the same for KC, they may have to play for a home game....I could be wrong though.

 

Try living in Wisconsin with a household full of Packer fans. I have not only aged years, but I may have lost most of my friends.

 

I respectfully disagree. You always take the points and don't chance extra downs,anything can happen especially with US. Sometimes it has to come down to the O making plays and the D getting stops.

This. There would have been time left on the clock even if we made the FG. A kick return for a TD and we lose. We fumble the snap before the FG and we may end up losing. Tomlin made the right call. He put us up by 7 and gave us a very good chance at winning the game. Special teams didn't help us any, but we got the job done in the end.

Quick math.... 1:25 left....40 second run off after 2nd down = 45 seconds....40 second runoff after 3rd down = 5 seconds....less how ever much time the play would have taken....

BUT.... a win's a win.....one more chance to get the ol' blood pressure up!

 

because the purpose of a Offense is to put up as many points as possible.....
because it is harder to score a TD then a field goal.......

I seem to remember a play against the Colts where Bettis fumbled near the goal line. I guess anything could happen. The right thing was to run the ball, which they did. They scored, special teams sucked, and defense held on (barely). Assume with 30 sec the same kickoff happens. What then? They could tie, but also have a chance to win.

 

I hate the Hairballs, so that doesn't convince me. Having said that, I thought the same thing, think I even had a post, but was glad when they scored. Let Bell put an exclamation point on his first 100 yard game and get rid of the bitterness of his fumble.

Cincy clinched the division and clinched a home playoff game. Kc is clinched as a wildcard and will be on the road the 1st week of the playoffs
