The characterization that Tomlin "underachieved" is false by definition as the Steelers surpassed expectations for the last 6 straight seasons. From the lens of preseason predictions based on the general assessment of talent, all these teams that "lost again in the playoffs" were not even projected to make the playoffs.

I know we all think every team has SB talent but it is not true. To the extent that Tomlin had a hand in team building, he bears responsibility. But his actual "coaching" of the talent that was there? Nah, not an underachievement at all.

I get it. And change is fresh, I hope "new" Mike will get us those wins. But it will only happen if the talent gets better and our young talent grows. I just take issue with the Tomlin bashing. Like his predecessors his time has past. But I appreciate his time and am under no illusion that we have more Lombadis with another coach.

I would suggest that "losing in the playoffs" is not an underachievement for a team that has no business being there in the first place. THAT is my point.

Now the Ravens and Bills are projected SB contenders EVERY SEASON AND FAIL. Sure the Ravens have won a couple of playoff games. So what? I would suggest that THIS is underachieving on a scale far in excess of us.
