Will Howard headed for IR?

    Looks like he is hurt badly enough to keep him out a while. (Wink wink nudge nudge)
    I guess the Steelers will be able to keep four QBs after all. (Cough cough)

    The 69 yards on 9 completions were almost all short throws plus RAC ... Bernard turning a flat swing into a 13-yard score is the clearest example. Howard never consistently pushed the ball 10+ yards in the air without needing the receiver to create after the catch. Combined with the third interception of the preseason (miscommunication or not), the limited range is a legitimate concern. This is his game for the most part. The head injury evaluation after taking those hits makes the IR path very realistic. The Steelers can put him on the 53 today and then shift him to IR tomorrow if the concussion is confirmed; that would give them the roster spot back while still controlling his rights.

    But the future is murky for a QB with limited upside.
