I think so.After watching his preseason games, his pass blocking has been fine. No sacks allowed. His run blocking has been very good. Dunker is a people-mover. His blocks show a man who moves defenders out of their gaps. He has a good motor for a big guy and loves to finish. He still needs to play lower at times, but that can be coached up. Because of the issues at tackle, I would not start him to open the season. I prefer mistake-free veterans like Spencer Anderson for now. Brock Hoffman, who already has experience in Mike McCarthy’s system, is the other early option.

Dunker has not played against many starters yet, so pump the brakes until he does. But I see something. That does not mean the staff cannot get him on the field. Situational football was a weakness of the previous regime. There is no reason Dunker cannot play on obvious running downs. He is better than Anderson or Hoffman at creating holes. That is the coaches’ call, but I would like the media who ask McCarthy questions to bring this up. I want to hear his answer.Make situational football your friend. Do not be at odds with it.

It appears you have a very unique pair of glasses you watch pre-season football with. Nowhere near enough evidence to make a decision on ....... but he will probably start due to injury or rotation.

Juat when Im going to agree with you, you say something that makes no sense. LoL
You don't average 10.5 wins a season with Mason, Justin Fields, Trubisky, Old Wilson, and Kenny f**king Pickett without playing situational ball. LoL.
Maybe you need to look up what situational football actually is

Um, I know. I think you missed my point. Dunker should play on obvious running downs because he is our best run-blocking guard. That’s situational football.

I’ve explained to you how foolish this but still you persist

You don’t change OL or TE based on run plays vs pass plays

Id explain why but I have found this to be a waste of my time

    You don’t understand situational football

Skip my post then, you don't know what you're talking about.

Teams routinely swap tight ends by situation. They also add a sixth offensive lineman in jumbo/heavy packages, especially near the goal line or on 3rd/4th-and-short. The extra body is there to create an extra gap or to seal the edge on a designed run. Sometimes that player is a listed TE who just lines up as an extra tackle; sometimes it’s an actual extra OL who reports eligible or ineligible depending on the play. Those substitutions are standard, not rare.

Your lack of football acumen is astounding. They say never argue with a fool, on lookers might assume it is both people.

    Have fun.

Maybe. Obviously injuries happen and that would be his best shot to see the field... However, the right side of the line has struggled a bit, so should Anderson falter he might have a shot to play at some point. I don't want to throw him in right away, but he has a lot to like about him (much like McCormick did in his rookie season). Let's let the kids develop a bit. I don't doubt he's going to start for us at some point in the next year or two.

Maybe in goal line package? idk. Seems like a really weird thing to do. I can't remember a time where a team has switched their starting OL for a different one during the game. I doubt it happens.

All Dunk can do is runblock..... Seems like that 6th O-line in the jumbo package.

Jumbo formation where you bring in a 6th O-line to be the lead blocker out of the backfield???

A narcissist is a person who shows a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, an excessive need for admiration, a strong sense of entitlement, and a lack of empathy for others.

Dunker is raw but a is mauler.

Andersons contract is up after this season.

Hopefully Dunker can be elevated to starting in 2027.
