I still think Bernard will be great. I had my doubts about this year, but in the future. We know Rodgers doesn't like using rookies , thats his history

I said back in the day that would change when Ben left.
Hell go look at how good DJ, and Claypool looked with Ben, and how bad they got after he left

People love Mason so much they want to write off a young promising QB after two preseason games based on two interceptions that you can clearly see were a result of Wilson running bad routes.

I like Rudolph as a person but cant wait until he is gone because damn his fan base is annoying AF.

Pickens has done better with Cowboys/Prescott than he did with Steelers QB carousel from 2022-2024.

This is exactly why it's wasteful to spend big money on WRs when you have a very good QB. Because guys like Ben make WRs better than they are.

So it's better to use the money on positions like OL and across the D. And let the QB be the "force multiplier" for the skill position guys.

FWIW, I think this is why CINCY is kind of broken. It's hard to let guys like Chase and Higgins go when you're the team that drafted them. But I just don't think you can sink that much cap space into WR when you have one of the more expensive QBs in the league.

I guess the counter argument is that you need to keep the very good to elite players that you have on your roster. And overpaying defensive players who aren't great doesn't make your team better. Just like we wouldn't have had a better team if we used more cap space on O by signing guys like Dan Moore.

I don't blame the Bengals for keeping Chase he's a top 10 WR, instead of paying Higgins should've spent on the OL or defense.

Twice in his career Mason has been handed the starting QB job. Once when Ben got hurt in game #2 the job was Mason's job to lose for the rest of the season. But only a few weeks he did lose his job to Duck Hodges. Then because Will Levis was so bad the Titans named Rudolph the starter for the rest of the year. But after losing 5 out of 6 games and throwing 9 picks during those 6 games, the Titans had no choice but go back to the moribund Will Levis.

I read on X that Steelers are exploring getting a WR in trade and offloading Wilson....according to 'Insider.'

    This... minus one major omission.

You said Bengals. This wasn't a complete Bengals decision. This decision largely falls on Joe Burrow. He wanted Higgins to stay.

The burden of proof now rests on him to prove that the Bengals made the right decision and win a Super Bowl. Can they remains to be seen. Given how often Joe Burrow gets himself injured, I have my doubts.

Let's leave off the He got knocked out part in the 1st thing you said, and that he went 3-0 when the Steelers gave him the job the next time, and took them to the playoffs. Let's leave that off . LoL
With all that said, he's a backup. Howard will be lucky to be a backup in the NFL

Yeah hate the guys that think he's a pretty good backup Qb.
It must be especially hard for people that predicted he would be out of the NFL 4 years ago. LoL

Let's just leave off his whole career except the 3 games he won against Jake Browning, Geno Smith and Tyler Huntley. Then that means he is undefeated in his pro career! Darn I definitely want him as the starter since he's never lost an NFL game now that we can't count any of his playing time the last 9 years except for those 3 games!

It has everything to do with what you wrote. You said Steelers WRs flop after they leave. Juju didn't flop... neither did Pickens.

It’s obviously hard for you to admit thats just what was going to happen until the Steelers threw him a life line.

His own words he was about to go sell insurance. Facts over feelings except for when its you, amirite!

Not really. Mason just happens to be a better option than a 6th round pick that needs time to learn the game. And 'promising QB' is based more on hope rather than evidence.
MT made him QB3. MM has him as QB2. We'll see who was more right.

There has been a lot of positive things said about Howard and not just by people in the organization.

May be hope but we know what Mason is and it aint much. I thinks its foolish to throw away a young QB you dont know about for a dime a dozen BU.

Not even to go all the way to winning a SB.

Burrow has only made the playoffs twice of the six years he's been in the league. He did win 5 games in those two year...but they missed the playoffs in 4/6 years here.

For context, in those same six seasons (2020, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25), we had the following QBs:
    • post-injury Ben (Browns collapse)
    • post-injury Ben (KC game)
    • Mitch / Kenny (missed playoffs)
    • Kenny / Mitch / Mason (Bills in the cold)
    • Fields / Wilson (can't stop the Rats run)
    • Rodgers (2x pick-6...but the game was already over when we threw the 2nd one)
So with mostly bad QB play, we made the playoffs 5 times in the same span.

Probably the reason for both things (CINCY missing, US making) is that Burrow can't stay healthy. So we squeak in when we don't really deserve it and they're watching from home. Them paying big money to Higgins doesn't change that...although I guess having good WRs makes it easier for your backup QB...even old-man Flacco looked OK playing 9 games last year.

Of course on defense, they were 2nd worst in yards allowed and 3rd worst in points allowed.

Right the argument is if Rodgers gets injured then we only have 2 inexperienced backups left on the roster. That's not the case at all there is always Gardner Minshew, Carson Wentz or some other backup with a lot of experience waiting in the wings.
