True but this is not like Rudolph is Joe Montana or something like that!

This is possible if we can win with the young QB if Rodgers is out for 2-3 games.Maybe not too.But we can said the same about Rudolph since he did not win a single game since the end of 2023

We have seen Mason, and many other backup Qbs win games against real NFL teams really scheming against them. Hell we seen Mason score Tds in the Playoffs.
Most HCs aren't going to chance throwing away games that there starter is out because of maybes, and hopes. We shall see.

I picked Mason in the poll. But I wouldn't cut him (and he wouldn't make it to the PS).

I'd trade him for a 5-7th. Or at least some kind of pick swap.

But I lean more to a rebuild than the team does.

If they keep Mason*, this is the play I think.

    * I would prefer to trade Mason and guarantee we keep the two young guys. Mason is a known commodity. He's a good backup who won't be anything but a spot starter. Maybe neither of the young guys becomes that, but I'd take the chance because it's possible (but not likely) they can be more. And I'd rather have 2x lottery tickets.

We are not likely to keep 4 QB's.

Trading Howard makes sense if the priority is experience/reliability behind a 42-year-old Rodgers this season. Howard is still unproven in regular-season action after missing time as a rookie. As a 2025 sixth-rounder, his trade value is low—probably a late-round pick or conditional something at best. A trade for something is better than a cut for nothing. Howard looks like a decent #3 QB.

Trading Rudolph for a 3rd or 4th rounder would be a home-run outcome and worth doing. He’s a known, serviceable veteran backup with starts under his belt and familiarity with the team. This would like make most of the fans happy. But such a trade has yet to be offered.

    We keep Allar.

    Khan man those phones.

I guess the really interesting question is who Mason is... Is he the guy that played two really nice games in 2023 and went 3-1 as a starter? Or is he the guy that went 1-6-1 as a starter for the rest of his career outside of his rookie season. Can he catch lighting in a bottle for a game or two when we need him? If he's that version, then yeah.. sure. If he's the guy that threw 31 times for 171 yards and turned it over twice in a loss (in a game we absolutely could have, and maybe should have, won), then why keep him over the young guys?

The upside in the young guys is what they can become. The "upside" of Mason is knowing what he is. I'm just not sure "what he is" will be worth cutting a young guy that is performing well. There's two more preseason games to iron that out.

I believe there are 32 other Will Howards out there. Should be easy to put Howard on the practice squad; right now Mason is the better backup for a spot start if Rodgers goes down.

Doesn't have an NFL arm, but is a student of the game and will not hurt you if called upon. This can be said for every career backup QB out there.

Can't see the Steelers carrying 4 QB's. I know a lot on here don't see a difference in a 4-13 record or a 9-8 record, both sitting at home watching the Playoffs but the organization doesn't think that way. My prediction is Ahole/Mason/Allar

Howard looked good, the criticism is making me laugh, ya’ll trying so hard to convince yourselves :lolol:

Every QB looked good last night. Cold hard math, you cut the oldest and keep the younger guy with more upside.

Yes, go back to the game thread at halftime. They were drooling over Howard, now they’re kicking him to the curb.

    Very fickle fans here.

We got the #32 pick for a head case WR named Claypool.

I don't think Rodgers is better than Mason at this point. Then again, I don't understand why we hire old QBs on one year deal. A QB should get his 3 year window, not a one year deal. I do not think it's better to have Rodgers as a starter on a one year deal than Mason on a 3 year deal.

Are you a comedy writer for your day job? I'm still laughing about your meltdown over Diego Pavia not getting drafted.

What happened at Penn State didn't mean anything to me Allar had the traits that could be developed. James Franklin was clueless when it comes to the passing game and recruiting good receivers.

If you get a 3rd or 4th for Mason, you do that as fast as you can.

That would be an overpayment by the other team IMO.

The only criticism I'm reading on Howard is that his arm isn't Allar's. All else being equal you take the NFL arm
But I'm also not ready to jump on any bandwagons after a single preseason game, especially one featuring players that will be working for Doordash in a month.

I wish we took Pavia over Allar. It's not about who looks good. It's about grit to win the Superbowl.
