    This.
I actually think right now Howard is the odd man out, but plenty of time left to see

Why keep Rudolph, is he that much better than Howard ?
He won't be here next season regardless.
Howard has more upside at this point and the Steelers aren't winning the Super Bowl this season anyway.

    1. Because he actually knows what its like to have a team actually game plan against him in a real game, and playoffs.
    2. Because he actually can keep a team to 500 until the starter gets back
    3. Because McCarthy actually talked of drafting him at one time.
    4. Because backup Qbs throughout the NFL are not kept for their upside in the future, they are kept as backups
    5. Because Mason's left arm is stronger than Howard's right. LoL.
I didn't realize how weak Howard's arm was until I seen it against Mason, and Allars

Rudolph has lost 6 out of his last 7 NFL starts and has lost his last 2 starts as a Steeler. He played poorly last year when he had to fill in for Rodgers. If Rodgers goes out for 6 games at best we would win maybe 2 of them with Rudolph. He's not worth keeping over a QB 6 years younger than him that might have more upside.

Again backups are kept for keeping the team 500 while the starter is out. We know for a fact he can do this against real NFL competition, and against real NFL schemes. We are not keeping him for the future, no real backups is , he is kept like most backups for this

    Mason stock high?
    Just curious
What do you think we could get for Mason?
    Me personally
A can of Copenhagen and a half a bottle of Jim Beam
I read somewhere that someone believes we could get a 4th rd pick for Mason
That my friend is very very generous

Same as you would get for any real backup in the NFL, not much

You probably could sign anybody of the street or trade away a 7th for a player that would keep the Steelers .500 . You dont need Rudolph to do that.

Yeah Your correct thats why so many teams have losing seasons, they should just sign someone off the street, and go 500 instead of have a losing seasons.

    Thanks to great coaching.
Matters of fact thats exactly what Howard reminds me of after last night. Hodges , about the same arm strength. Hell I might have a stronger arm than Howard. LoL.
Problem is many of You are looking at it as future, future future. Coaches aren't nor the players. They keep, and lose jobs because of bad , or good decisions, they can't just restart the game

I'm saying if Rodgers gets hurt with THIS TEAM.
If he gets hurt for more than 3 or 4 games the season is lost anyways.
    Mason would go maybe 2-2
The other 2 young QBs could do the same.
    Steelers don't need Mason.

That's the point of a backup.
We know Mason can. We've all seen it. Hell we seen him throw tds in the playoffs. Everyone in the entire NFL knows Mason can, but not one single person in the whole world knows for a fact that either of the others can. Nobody. You think they can, and they maybe can, but you don't know for a fact, but HCs throughout the NFL knows Mason can.
Some of you act like HCs don't get fired for losing.
We have went so long without a real losing season you have forgotten what can happen. 63 different Qbs had to play last season. Most HCs don't want to go with maybe

Well, me personally I would rather have the half bottle of Jim beam, but I do believe we could get a fourth for him once somebody goes down. He's reliable

The team doesn't need to go 9-8
They need to win playoff games or go 3-14
Exactly, everyone knows Rudolph is a bum. You cut Howard and you could lose something .

Sure, loser has to do the Happy Gilmore bit.
Whats your end, Howard gets cut and Rudolph stays?

Won’t post the gif but its the “you were right I was wrong, you’re smart, I’m stupid” scene.

I'm not a big Mason supporter but the points you make are valid. We lose Rodgers early Mason is our best bet at QB. Howard and Allar have never faced NFL defenses in real time. There would be growing pains.

Remember Ben R. stepping in? Maybe we'll catch lightning in a bottle again;) Ben had one hell of a supporting cast in 2004.

But, the Pittsburgh Steeler organization does not think that way. Matters not to me but the team will want to try to win and they would probably go with experience which is Mason.

They thought that way when they kept Dobbs over Landry.

There is none, most dont care if he goes or stays but he has some fans here that it is important for him to stay on the team. Thats the only reason.

Rudolph has lost his last 6 games in a row or something like that. What would we ever do without such a winner.
