    https://www.nfl.com/news/ben-johnson-wants-bears-to-set-nfl-scoring-record-in-2026

“I want more than that. I want to have the highest-scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored (37.9), and I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts.”

    ----

We had to live with aim-low Tomlin, who wanted to "keep it close" and then "win it ugly" in the 4th quarter.

Ben Johnson is the attitude I want and quite frankly, the attitude I had playing sports as a kid/teen/young adult. I wasn't there to participate. I was there to be part of a dominant team. We were that in soccer and youth football (second smallest on the team and OG). We were hit and miss in baseball, I was good, but never the BEST player and some years were .500 years and some were playoff years.

I can't understand any love for a HC like Tomlin that seems to dislike winning easily and often. Hired awful OCs that would "manage" the game, i.e. keep turnovers low, but we don't much care if you score any TDs. We just need 3, 4 or 5 FGs and we'll scrap out a win by D in the 4th.

Bears fans got a good one, even if he doesn't quite reach heights he's stating, at least he is plainly hungry to be more than solid, he wants the Bears to be record-setting and destroying every team they play. The complete antithesis of Mike "Mediocre" Tomlin and his hired band of sub-mediocre assistants.

Ben Johnson... the one that got away from Steelers. What could have been. :frown:

Reminds me of passing on Marino in '83.

And the Steelers could have got draft capital for Tomlin to boot. Just horrible. Inability to read the room and take advantage of your situation. Tragic really.

McCarthy will give us 5-7 years if things go well. We could have had Johnson for as long as we had Cowher... possibly Tomlin.

I will love to hope that Hes the right guy for the Bears, but unlike many here, I will wait , and see. One year means nothing in the NFL, we have seen many HCs, and players look good for one year.

This is correct. As Noll once said, coach of the year one year, fired the next.

Getting a bounce is nice, but can you stay up there?

Like I said I hope he's the guy, I got my other half of my family that are all Bears fans, but I will wait, and see

LoL. That's crazy when You think about it.
How many HCs have been a HC at the Packers, Cowboys, and Steelers?
Let's hope 3 to 5 years from now we are talking about him being the greatest HC of all time

I want to see a more productive offense for sure but as long as we score more than the other team, I will be okay.

I get your point and I agree 100% ....... but the Cowboys aren't really a storied franchise unless your talking to the Dallas police:cool:

I all seriousness, the Cowboys are like our media, clickbait!

Imagine if the steelers had a Ben Johnson type coach in the killer b's era,a head coach who don't care much about the stats of the defense and always have the pedal on the accelerator to start the game on offense and continue to be aggressive after that even with the lead

I believe with a head coach who would been all-in on offense in that era,it would been the greatest show on turf part II

He seems to have a franchise QB with Williams. That pass he threw to send game into OT against the Rams was one of the best I've ever seen. That took an incredible amount of arm strength. I became an instant Bears fan and will pull for them except against the Steelers. Da Bears!

Impossible to know for sure but I'll always believe a different HC with that team and we have 7 Rings.

This offense will look like an aerial circus compared to the Canada - Artie Smith eras (errors).

Funny, I was thinking this when I saw that quote. It was never a possibility with Rooney but would have loved to have Johnson here.

Love him or hate him, he absolutely wants to destroy everyone he plays. He doesnt want close contests to build character, he just wants to annihilate you.

And he seems to be a hell of a communicator and teacher, the way Williams speaks about him and what he has meant to him coming to coach the team, he loves the man. There was a moment last season after a game, Johnson was giving out team balls, after he finished, Williams said I have one to give out, gave it to Johnson.

He’ll turn that club into a winning franchise again. The shift has already started.

    I was, and they were!

But even at that, their hype is bought and paid for and is exaggerated by simply putting themselves in the news for good, bad, and indifferent reasons just to be in the news.

Basic competence would be nice, arial circus would be nice, a game plan that allows us to win games would be fantastic.
