Khan,It’s almost training camp 2026. Time to pick up the phone and do your thing. Here’s what I’m hoping he's working on:

Trade Alex Highsmith! We’ve got T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig locked in on that fat new contract, and Jack Sawyer looking like a second-year riser. Highsmith’s cap number is a monster we don’t need. Shop him aggressively. A 2nd-round pick would be ideal. I’d happily settle for a 3rd.

Move Broderick Jones if you can. He’s been hurt a lot and hasn’t shown enough when healthy. Take whatever you can get — a 6th, a 7th, or even a conditional 7th based on 2027 snaps. If an injury settlement is on the table, wash your hands and move on. He’s probably heading to the PUP list soon anyway.

Trade the loser of the Rudolph/Howard QB battle. Mason Rudolph still has real value as a proven, cheap backup who’s actually won 9 games. Someone will pay for that. Will Howard might only bring a 7th (if that) in August. Howard needs to ball out early in camp or he’s the odd man out.

Kaleb Johnson should to go. At best he’s the 3rd running back when everyone’s healthy, and he brings nothing on special teams. Trade him for anything — a bag of chips, a future 7th, a player to be named later… whatever. Cutting him and hoping he clears waivers to the practice squad is pure wishful thinking.

Be sure to call the Jets and Browns twice. You’ve proven you can work the phones, so let’s get some 2027 draft capital.

I’m more interested in who he could bring in.

Appears the Pats jumped the gun cutting ties with Diggs as he was cleared of any charges. DK, Pittman and Diggs as the primary receivers with Germie would be a very good WR room.

Our weakest unit, ILB has two people on the streets that could help, Bobby Wagner and Elandon Roberts. Roberts played under Graham last year, Im surprised we haven’t seen this move yet.

At TE, I’d give Darren Waller a call. We’re shallow there with nothing proven past Muth and Washington.

    1) Theres really no reason to move Highsmith now and would only hurt them for this season. If they want to move him they can do it after the season is over.

    2) What are we getting for a guy coming off his injury? Always need good depth on the line, better to hold onto him and see if he can make it back and contribute.

    3) Neither one of these guys hold any trade value. Nobody wanted Rudolph after his Tennessee stop as a FA, why would they trade for him now and Howard is a 6th rd pick that has never played in an NFL game.

    4) KJ is the only one that maybe you get something for but it would be based on draft pedigree hoping a 3rd rd pick brings in something. That something being maybe a 7th rd pick. Again, better to hold onto him and see if he has anything to offer. Both Warren and Rico are older and on short term contracts.

Agree on all points. I'll add to #1 that we can probably count on TJ being injured at some point when we most need him. Especially considering he'll be 32 and his career and injury history isnt that different from JJ's who hung up the cleats at 33.

Having strong depth at Edge is desirable. So since I'm not paying Highsmith's salary, I like having him on that depth chart.

I picture Joel Bushbaum as a middle aged man living in his mother's basement, pouring over depth charts and highlight films of Steeler players until they're so built up in his mind that he thinks everyone wants them. But maybe I'm way off. Perhaps he's a male runway model with poor eyesight. :lolol:

Genius is often not recognized in a person until hundreds of years after their passing.

This may be one of those times. :smiley1:

    That is funny.

Joel the famous football writer was a true football nerd who lived in a small apartment and was a bit of a recluse. Yet he had a real charm and authenticity about him. He possessed almost encyclopedic knowledge of the game and was excellent on the radio at least I always thought so. In many ways, he and I were complete opposites in build, lifestyle, and rooting interests. He was a big New York Giants fan. I can see this thread didn’t go over well with some of you. But if/when some of those players get traded, just remember this thread.

Well, you're old right? Just in case that senile old memory of yours blanks out, I’ll do you a solid and bump this thread again in early September.

I hope Khan does not do his "Thing".

Last year it was to trade away your best offensive player after the draft and before training camp started!!!

I wouldn't trade Highsmith until cut down day or the trade deadline. That's the best way to maximize his return.

Back in the day I started ordering his scout notebook every year (mid 80s on) so that I could flip through it and see something about who they drafted. I don't think I would have become so interested in the draft without it. My friends, who followed different teams, would come over to watch the draft and it would get passed around during the event.

Anyway just giving you a hard time. Cheers. :drinks:
