    LoL.
Did You read what I said, or did You already have the argument waiting. LoL.
He played a whole preseason, was on the team a whole year, and played another year of preseason before this. Outside of Mason, we have nobody that has done that.
Sometimes I think you just like writing without reading, or thinking.
Reading is hard for some. LoL.

I already said I thought Howard would end up on the practice squad. Taking Allar in the 3rd pretty much doomed Howard in Pittsburgh.

If he is not worried about losing, I don't want him.
I don't want anyone that not worried about losing.

    :roflmao:

So Landrys 2 extra preseason games is what you are basing your argument on? Ohhhh that makes all the difference in the world, Dobbs obtained massive experience over Howard because of that. So if Howard took some preseason snaps last year then you’d be cool moving on from an experienced backup like Rudolph

You don’t just put a player on the practice squad first you have to release/waive him

First another team could claim him off waivers

Also Howard could very well believe the grass is greener elsewhere if another team offers

Agreed. If they put Howard on waivers hoping to put him on the practice squad they will probably lose him.

I am not convinced that they will keep four QBs, so they will have to choose between Howard and Mason, because they are not cutting Allar as their 3rd round pick.

Im aware, but I dont think the Steelers care if someone claims him off waivers. My point about Allar getting drafted was that Howard is not part of the future plans. Also I dont think Howard is going to have that many options, if other teams are only carrying 3 QB's I dont think there will be much interest in adding him to an active roster. Rudolph on the other hand who is a veteran backup could easily get picked up and added as a number 2 somewhere, whereas Howard is at best a number 3.

I'm not fully buying that take. If Howard gets cut and plays reasonably well in camp and preseason, I’m confident other teams will be interested in him as a third QB. He’s shown enough flashes that someone will give him a real shot whether on the practice squad or as a third-string guy. He will have options. Rudolph, on the other hand, fits perfectly as a #2 QB for any team that wants a proven veteran starter as insurance.

I’d say Rudy is about 75% likely to win the #2 job. Howard still needs to prove his arm strength on intermediate and deep routes, and he basically has until the second preseason game to do it. The Steelers have not made up their minds until the 2nd preseason game. That is my point.

    Shown enough flashes where

He has never taken an NFL snap

And don’t give me college BS he went late in the 6th so nobody saw a flash there

Maybe it turns out I am super wrong about this but this Rudolph talk is bonkers. If it came to it, just go sign Cooper Rush off the scrap heap who played for McCarthy or Jimmy G or Josh Dobbs or maybe even Desmond Ridder. Or call up Carr and convince him to come out of retirement.

Rudolph doesnt offer you some unmatched QB play that they will be lost without. Just makes no sense to give up on Howard for Mason freaking Rudolph.
