Looking like the youth of today are even worse than we were as kids and now Kennywood Park is mandating that anyone under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or other adult 21 and older and must show a valid government photo ID (well that right there is going to cause endless protests). This is in response to the current "flash mob" mindset sweeping the world via social media and targeting amusement parks all around. This is such a shame remembering how many exciting summer trips we made to Kennywood and West View with other friends and siblings WITHOUT an adult. We used to get free Kennywood tickets at the end of the school year for Scouts, Altar Boys and Patrol Boys back when there was no admission cost, just a ticket or 2 per ride and cheap fast food. Bummer in the summer.

My local Boardwalk has implemented some changes like this due to unruly punk kids. I agree with them 100%. Boardwalk is 2.2 miles* long with at least 50 entrances so can't do the photo ID thing but so happy we got tough on the punk kids from Philly who have zero respect for our area. I do remember getting free Kennywood tickets from my Pittsburgh Press paperboy job. Also won Steeler tickets twice for getting new subscribers. (thanks family members)

*Wife and I have been walking it for years. We can still walk it back and forth but our times have increased with age. Used to do it in under an hour, sadly those days are long gone. We use to get a large amount of tourist from Pittsburgh and I loved seeing the black and gold among the sea of Philly green and red.

    A Kennywood story

I met my wife in Chicago and we moved to Pittsburgh. She started here as a traveling nurse and the area had a total lack of road signage and it was before gps Garmin etc.

One evening having spent the day lost she came home mad as a hornet. “There aren’t any street signs around here but you can be 30 miles out in the middle of nowhere and there is one of those yellow ****ing arrows pointing to Kennywood”
