He has a 69 QBR vs FUI 19/33 for 200 yards at 6.1 yard average. Against FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL

In his 6 games last years, and you can take out NW if you want. He never threw for more than 217 yards and average only about 200 yards a game and they only played 1 good team. And this was not a fluke year, as he has had these types of stats/games his entire career. And having STUD RBs, should have helped counter the lack of top receivers by giving him more time. How many games of his did you watch and say, yea I see him as a NFL starter?

Somebody was going to take a shot on Allar, he just has all the tools that teams want in a QB. Its really a good situation for the Steelers, you have Rodgers for this year and the coaches will get a look at Allar, so who really cares about his stats at PSU, the coaches will know whether or not the have something. If they don't have something then they will make the moves to draft a guy or get a free agent.

 

James Franklin is a lot like Mike Tomlin. Rarely is he going to ask the QB to win the game, 80% of the time he demands they not lose the game which leads to some incredibly boring offenses.

That being said, Allar hasn’t shown enough to convince me he is a legit prospect to get excited about.

Hopefully white Mike can tap into his talent but I still think Will Howard is going to beat him out in camp due to his decision making.

I know if you're floating millions of dollars in my face with retirement at 35 years of age to play a child's game I'd be pretty persistent if I was in these guy's shoes.

Nah.. not a good comparison. Plenty of Ohio State QB’s had tons of talent and came up short. Howard won a championship against great competition in the playoffs.

Drew had a bunch of hype and bombed. I didn’t watch every game but I watched enough Allar to know if he was on Ohio State they wouldn’t have won the chip because the guy has poor decision making skills.

Tomlin already had a franchise QB with a SB win that he could trust when he was hired.

Since then it’s been pretty damn boring at the QB position but he still won 9 to 10 games a year.

Mechanics are one piece. Eventually muscle memory takes over. The decisionmaking is a whole other thing and it's unclear whether coaching can fix it to a point that makes the QB franchise worthy. Making decisions in 2.5 seconds....

 

Very true. Windows close so quickly in the NFL and processing speed is critical. It can be improved through film study, repetition, working on pre and post snap reads, but some guys have an internal processor thats a click faster than others. Those that do have the potential to be quality starters, those that dont become backups or insurance salesmen. I am a Penn State alum so of course I hate Ohio State, but I am a Steeler fan first. If either of these guys becomes a quality starter, I will be super happy. And if its neither of them, we'll thats what the draft and free agency is for.

It's like You Moon spells Moon guys don't read. For example I said in another post the Steelers D was better than the Raiders D, and slow people got......Mike Tomlin is awesome, and we had the best D in the league. I believe reading, and comprehension is hard for some.
