As the host nation to the world's cup, how do you like team USA's chances of advancing to the next round of play?

I am interested in this event. The USA women are the best. The men, not so much.

The game in my opinion needs refinement. The offside rule is silly. Confine it to the goal box and you will see more skill and scoring. Play your F'n man.

The faking injuries to draw cards is also silly. Often the man down is up right away if he does not get a card forced. If I want to see men flopping clutching their legs and covering up from free kicks I know where to go...

And on that note, GO USA.

Only time I follow the sport is World Cup. I root for Italy and us of course but don't expect much from men. Amazing World event. I live South of Philly. Philly getting some games this time. Always wanted to see a World Cup game but little to much for me to navigate at this age. Motels prices are insane and I imagine ticket prices will be too.

TBH, I don't understand the rules and don't understand the strategies but enjoy the WC. I do love they don't stop the clock. Suck on that NFL.

I just read about the offside rule. Odd.

Me too. I usually root for Cameroon but, last time, I was pulling hard for Iceland! I like the underdog/small countries.

Motel rooms in Philly hitting 400 a night. Not only World Cup but it's USA 250th birthday.

I was in Germany for our 200th and the descendants of the Nazi's threw us a nice party, fireworks and all.

Well, I have some good choices to see a game. I have Brazil/Morocco in North Jersey, Brazil/Haiti in Philly, France/Senegal in North Jersey, and France/Bolivia or Iraq.

Philly will be hosting a PGA Major plus it's 250 years for the good old USA. Gonna be busy all around me.

The cost of everything is through the roof. Only 70 miles away but we like to stay over. Motel rooms hitting 4-500 a night. Our resort town is 70 miles away but all Motels booked solid for the season.

Watched that Netflix special on the 2005 Liverpool soccer team. I never heard about it before. Turns out Liverpool was great in the 70's and 80's and then fell off. In the 2005 Championship game they went down 3-0 to the best team in the Soccer world. Came back in second half to win. That sport has some loyal ass fans. Huge in Europe for sure. And just like American sports it's all about the money.

The Haiti National team is practicing at the local college soccer field minutes from me in Southern NJ.
Wonder if there's fan watching sessions or closed?

EDIT: Per FIFA regulations, all practices are closed to the general public.

Last fall I went into a pub in Luzern just to use their wifi to watch the Steelers game on my iPad

Everyone else was dressed in team Zurich jerseys and were going nuts

Their game ended about half time of the Steelers game so they asked what I was watching then they put the Steelers on every tv

They had no clue what the rules were but if I cheered the entire bar cheered

It was a blast and I really kept them going

Thus September I need to find Steelers games in Regensburg Budapest and Prague

    Prague looks easiest

Good luck to USA. The World Cup helps me learn names of countries I never knew existed.

Damn USA/Paraguay is not on until 9:00 tonight. Not sure I'll make it. I do enjoy no commercials except at halftime.

Well, the USA just played their best World Cup game in decades. I’m not really a soccer guy, but I’ll say this the offensive skill and talent some of these U.S. players have is a joy to watch. Up next for them are Turkey and Australia. Two non-traditional soccer powers. We should win at least one of those games and tie the other. So 3-0 or 2-0-1 is my call.
