    Hi all,

New to the forum, been a steeler fan since god knows when and just came across this forum, which seems to be a really active community.

Anyway, I'm a bit of a scheme nerd. As this new coaching staff has come in, I've been wanting to learn a lot more about their general approach to building an offense/defense and the core principles that drive it.

I found a decent amount about Patrick Graham and the core elements of his defense, but I've had less success finding anything that breaks down the core elements of a Mike McCarthy offense (besides it being west coast and heavy 11 personnel).

Does anybody have any resources/videos on the topic?

    Thanks in advance

I watch Jack on Chat Sports on Youtube and he has A LOT of videos about the Steelers and the schemes of both offense and defense.

He makes at least 2 videos a day and I know he has talked about this but you need to search through his videos to find what you are asking.

Wellcome to the board ..MM has been away from Football for a bit and says he was in the lab ..Judging by the Guys drafted and what he states his QB and WR'S need to be ,I think he has some new wrinkles on the West Coast where the QB will have a lot of freedom at the LOS and a lot of the WR'S can also be ball carriers ..A simply approach catch them small then some version of Power either running or throwing to bigger targets.. Catch them big and then go quick either running or throwing ..Having those multiple guys and being able to flex the play into the best possible play will be the approach IMO..

I know some would think that's how everyone does it well it's not some Coaches only give the QB 1 run and 1 pass to audible into..

He runs a modified west coast which he calls Texas coast and you’re right, lot of QB freedom but needs a savvy QB which is why he wanted Rodgers. He wants to spread everyone out and put in a lot of options routes, its still quick passing attack of a west coast but with more ability to go vertical depending on what the defense is showing which also requires the WR’s to really know what they are looking at and being on the same page as Rodgers which leads me to believe Wilson is still going to struggle. I wonder how Bernard will do picking this up as a rookie.

It’s a very timing based offense which makes me think teams will play a lot of press coverage against it which makes the Pittman signing make even more sense because he is good at beating press and DK excels at.

The offense should be fun to watch this season. Lamb said McCarthy wants to go vertical. I see a lot of that and shots to the MOF this year.

Welcome aboard but Kordell as your avatar? I still have nightmares about his AFC championship meltdowns.

Welcome OP. Here is a little about it. Lot of 11 personnel, slot receiver is important part of it and having a top offensive line. This video was before the draft and they were talking about if we walk away with a slot and a LG they are in good shape to run McCarthys offense. We got both, they even listed Bernard as one of the guys to target for the slot.

And I was mistaken in my other post, Lamb coined it the Texas Coast offense.
