1989 49ers...Best team ever for a single season.14-2 in the regular season and they had outscored their opponents 126-26 in 3 playoffs game!

I will go with the 1984 49ers but the Steelers were the only team to beat them that year

1985 Bears were a one hit wonder. Nobody beat them except an anomaly by the Fins. The 49ers owned the decade.

Da Bears. You just knew they were winning it all.

Agreed, but it's not like they faced HOF QBs along the way: Ok, Phil Simms was decent, but then Dieter Brock for the Rams (so you know they were one-dimensional with Eric Dickerson) and then the "great" Tony Eason.

Reminds of some of the QB's we lost to during Ben's era. The worse for me was Broncos and Tim Tebow:(

I remember losing to Blake Bortles. How does a Blake Bortles led offense score 45 points against a Mike Tomlin (defensive background right?) team?

The prompt was which Super Bowl Winning Team in the 1980s is the best. This isn't about dynasties; only a singular point. For me, there are only two correct answers.

    1.) 1985 Bears:

A single loss to the Miami Dolphins doesn't diminish that the Bears had arguably the Single Greatest Season in NFL History. Back to Back shutouts against both the Rams and Giants are not to be faulted either. Even after two generations, the 1985 Bears still is a synonymous name in the annals of not just NFL History but also Sports History.

    2.) 1989 49ers:

Essentially the Offensive Variant of the 1985 Bears; still holding the highest Postseason Differential of any team ever. Beyond the Postseason though; Joe Montana proved why he belonged on the NFL All Time Mt. Rushmore of QBs; A then-NFL record with a passer rating of 112.4, a completion percentage of 70.2% and a 26/8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Biggest contribution that this version of the 49ers left behind was the fact that this season marked a major turning point in NFL History; Offense was going to be a major player in the League for the years ahead.

I have to go with that Bears team. I think that defense was just that dominant. I think every player on that defense scored a TD at one point during that season. Maybe that's just a rumor???lol
