Should poor routes by the receivers be blamed on the QB or the WRs ?

Are you seriously disputing that Allar has issues with being inaccurate? That just destroys any credibility you have on this topic.

You failing to admit the Penn State receivers were bad destroys your credibility on this topic, Allar has his flaws but I want to see what he can do with better coaching and better weapons on offense.

Don't take my post as being confrontational. I'm simply talking football.

I have watched them both play a ton of football. I even got to see Howard play a ton at Kansas State as well.

I have always watched a ton of pro and college football. I evaluate players as a hobby since I was young. It's something I love to do. I truly wish Howard the best here and hope he can overcome some things. His mind is his best asset, so I hope the offense is a good fit for him. Maybe he can master the offense and maximize his arm strength with some work he has done with his mechanics, and it all comes together with him.

Allar is no slam dunk to do anything. He has a long way to go. Physical talent means nothing at that position if he can't master the other mental aspects of the game and fix what isn't working well enough physically.

The choker label is concerning. Not going to judge cause i didnt watch him play but trying to rationalize the label or make circumstances the cause is iffy at best to me. Plenty of great highly talented Qb’s at the pro level for instance didnt have much to work with..Matt Stafford with the Lions, Andrew Luck with the Colts, Archie Manning with NO. You could tell they were great/talented Qb’s even though they were in poor circumstance's or surroundings.

At this point Im going to trust MM’s ability to identify good Qb talent and hope he can make something of Allar.

I’m a full believer in Drew Allar, and it won’t take much — just one or two strong games as a starter — for me to ante up and buy his jersey. From what I’ve read, he’s wearing #16 right now. I believe in his elite tools: elite arm talent, ideal height, big hands, and weight. All of it grades out as A-level. Combine that with his above-average football IQ and a genuinely offensive-minded coach like McCarty, and you’ve got a winning combination.

He’s an extremely ball-secure quarterback — next to zero fumbles per snap and a very low interception rate. That’s not luck, that’s consistency. While he’s far too good of a leader and too high-character to ever throw his wide receivers or coaches under the bus, his critics point to his performances in big games and say he was poor.

They’re not entirely wrong. But let’s be honest: the play-calling and coaching in those games was at best a C-minus, and the receiving corps was barely a C-minus itself. There’s a clear reason Penn State moved on from the previous head coach and why their top wideouts left town.

What I’d love to hear this 22-year-old man-child say is this: “I was too conservative in my college play. That was on me.” Man up and own it, Drew. But that was then. This is now. Now he has good coaching, and better receiving options. The offense will be specifically designed around his strengths when he is the starter.

Mini camp starts today! I hope Allar dares to be great.

Wrong again. I never disputed that they were bad, or at least not NFL-caliber. My point was it isn't the fault of the receivers that Allar consistently makes poor decisions in big moments. It is not their fault he drops his eyes to the pass rush instead of keeping them down field. It is not their fault that he isn't an accurate passer. It isn't their fault that his footwork is a mess. Some of those are flaws that can be fixed. Some, not so much.
