Part of me wanted Tomlin to get the record for all-time worst playoff record and losses and he was nearing that goal rapidly. He'll probably win his first playoff game with his next team, but then it will be back to piling up losses, if he can even make the "half the league gets in" playoffs.

And this doesn't answer my question McDaniels was a massive failure twice at being a HC .

The only way to answer the question without proving you right was to move the goal post. You asked about being a HC, and they answer with OC. LoL

McDaniels is better than any OC Steelers have had since Arians moved on. I'd rank Haley slightly below him.

I agree, but that wasn't the question he put forth.

A "great" coach not having one single coach not be a head coach? That's bad. Regardless if it worked or not.

Well, Tomlin promoted Arians to OC and he went on to become a successful HC.

Arians was probably a better HC than coordinator. It happens. Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher too.... better HCs than coordinators. Tom Coughlin was wide receivers coach before HC.

Dick Lebeau, Wade Phillips, Vic Fangio, Vance Joseph.... better coordinators than HCs.

    D. Lebeau, and Wade Phillips are two of the greatest DCs to ever coach, and both weren't very good HCs. It takes a lot more than just knowing your side of the ball.

To this day I don't understand how Arians is not from Tomlins coaching tree?? Most of the so called guys from so, and so coaching tree didn't start with them. Yet somehow only Tomlin is stuck with this rule.

Arians came from the Cowher staff.

Because Arians wasn't from the Tomlin staff. He was from the Cowher staff. Just like LeBeau was. If Arians had been hired by Tomlin from another team, than ya, it would be under him.

He was a freaking WR coach, Tomlin made the decision to keep him around and promote him to OC.

Do you need me to write it in Spanish? Bruce Arians was already there with the Steelers. Shall I type it again?

Arians was still with the steelers and Tomlin kept Arians for the continuity...same thing with Lebeau. But it was Cowher who had hired both of them with the Steelers....In the first few years, Tomlin was with Bill Cowher's staff and players and those were our best years under Tomlin!

Deal with it and move on!

Promoting Arians from WR coach to OC isn't continuity he could've went out and hired an experienced OC.

Promoting from within defined Tomlins tenure, very rarely did he go outside the organization.

You dont get credit for another coaches hire that you inherited
