First I don’t think he is coming to Pittsburgh “to sign a contract”

But he would not be coming if it was not a strong possibility

What I expect is what I previously posted

He is coming to see exactly what his role is and if it is something he can live with

And my speculation is that his role is not just to play as the starter this season

His role will be to start the season and help with Allar and/or Howard until if/when one or the other is ready to play in an NFL game

MM and Omar do not want to go into the 2027 draft without knowing for certain what they have

This would be the case if they're not keeping Rudolph. Knowing the Steelers brass.... they will keep Rudolph in place.

Old Steelers brass liked having a veteran backup and last year I would have agreed with you

    Now IDK

They will take 4 to camp and unless Rudolph is traded (unlikely) those will be the 4

I’m not sure MM will spite himself by cutting one of the young guys if they show true potential just to keep a mediocre vet

Unless of course they plan to finally give Rudolph his window

Again just my opinion be he doesn’t sign if he’s not willing and the Steelers don’t offer if he’s not willing

One would thing the basis for this conversation has been going on for a while and updated a bit after the draft

Rodgers actually seemed to embrace helping Howard last year and there is no reason he wouldn’t do the same with Allar

It’s not like he would be coming here to get benched that would not sit well

But coming here to teach and pass the reins would be more of a legacy situation

    IMO

Bad news travels fast, but no surprise. For the sake of Howard and Allar, I'm hoping they get rid of Rudolph, but unfortunately I doubt if that happens. Howard will probably be the odd man out. Hope I'm wrong.

Pickens would have been better than Metcalf had the kept him, and they would have him at least one more year for less money than Metcalf on the tag.

The debate was always that they should have kept Harris for one more year because Warren isn't a lead back. Given that they had to spend even more money on Dowdle this offseason, the Steelers clearly agree.

There is no reason to talk about Pickett as he has been gone a while. He comes up because one or two posters here like to troll about him.

I'm sure Rodgers will still give us stuff to talk about after he signs, whenever that is.

Exactly right. He is going to not only have more weapons, but he'll also have a gameplanner he is familiar with drawing it up. This was probably agreed upon between his camp and the Steelers provided some effort was made on weapons this offseason. Pittman, Bernard, Heidenreich as additions are a real shot in the arm for the pass game.

Offense depth chart looks legit. Defense is the concern now, but if they at least play middle of the pack ball it will be a fun season.

If they go their usual 10-7 or 9-8, which they probably will, they'll have to trade up to get a top 10 pick.
