Not surprised by Jerry Jones, but a team has to be ready for anything, and Khan and the Steelers are slow to react like they have been for several years. The Steelers have rarely traded up or down in a draft in the last 20 years.

What happened prior to Kahn becoming gm is irrelevant.

Good for Dallas! Shame on the Steelers for counting their chickens before they hatch.

Wait until the previous pick has been announced, and then call the guy you're drafting.

This can be said for any walk of life. If you are aquiiring any asset, that might be desirable to others, you don't own it, until you own it. The fastest way to lose it is to broadcast you are aquiiring it before you sign.

The Steelers have egg on their face here, and they deserve to.

I'd say looking back, I'm happier with Max, Bernard than Lemon, Markell Bell?, and a late fourth. The difference in tiers between the tackles is that Max is a project, but star potential if he hits. The drop off is likely backup with low end starter potential. I don't think the drop off is as great between Lemon and Bernard. Much of this draft comes down to the gamble for Max paying off much better than the gamble for Jones.

I don't know why Dallas would have a problem with McCarthy they were the ones to not renew his contract.

I didn't want Lemon anyway, but I did wanted Freeling at Tackle. I would love to be not only wrong, but stupid for wanting him over who we got.

Freeling is the one I wanted to trade up for as well. If the goal is that Max has his best years in front of him, the same can be said for Monroe.

So trading up with the Cowboys was never actually an option. So we can stop whining about it
The fact that Jerry Jones hates McCarthy so much that he was willing to call a division team, which has rocked his arse for the last few years, and not only hand them a top 3 WR but also made it easier to move their unhappy WR for serious draft capital next year makes me re-think my original opinion of McCarthy. For the better.

This is the opposite of the Broderick Jones situation.

In 2023 the Patriots were at 14, the Jets at 15, and the Steelers at 17. The Patriots, who didn't want the Jets to get Jones, called the Steelers and offered a good deal to the Steelers to jump up for Broderick in order to screw a division rival.

In 2026 the Cowboys called a division rival to help them and screw a team in the other conference. They let the Eagles bring the player they wanted, so he can play against them twice a year but to screw over a team that they'll only face once or twice every four years.
