Mildly surprised we didn't trade a LB for a move up.

I'm not unhappy with the talent acquired in this draft, but am I right in thinking that the only pick who will likely be much help this season is the WR, Bernard? Aren't the rest projects who will require quite a bit of coaching/development before they can be thrown into the fire?

I missed it. What did they use to move up from 99 to 96?

From everything I've seen they are the opposite of each other. Allar is a low floor, high ceiling guy. All the tools, all the size, never close to putting it together. Howard doesn't come close to the same tools, especially arm strength, but has won everywhere he's played. Higher floor but lower ceiling.

Personally not a fan, every one of the few times I've watched him he's looked awful but hoping the professionals know what they're doing.

Yeah, maybe they can turn 1 or 2 into 2027 6ths or something.

Night and day approach. Colbert ignored the trenches which was a common complaint here and Khan/Weidl live and breath it.

The later is the smarter approach.

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft (No. 96 overall), sending picks 99 and 216 to the Seattle Seahawks to select Iowa offensive lineman Gennings Dunker

I don't think the Khan McCarthy dynamic is working.

I agree but it might be because they both work for ARII and that's the problem.

This is going to be a great preseason with QB battles. That preseason game against the Panthers is going to be off the chain!

Allar, Penn State QB and Howard, Ohio State QB on the Steelers against Kenny Pickett, Pitt QB, the backup for the Panthers.

The Battle of the Dirt Balls!

I picture Dunker heading into a stadium with a two by four resting on his shoulder, hollering “da yup!”

The Steelers traded up twice and I like both picks. Bernard is an excellent fit in the slot on offense, the additional weapon they needed at receiver.

I like the Dunker pick, but I'm not so sure about him stepping right in. I didn't realize he was a projection moving in from tackle to guard. That might take some time.

I'm not a fan of the other two third-rounders. Even if Allar had been gone by the pick at the end of the round, Nussmeier is still there if they really feel the need to roll the dice on a mid-round quarterback.

They should have taken Pregnon instead of Allar or Everette. He seems like a better bet than Dunker to step right in and start from day one. I would have much rather seen them get Pregnon, then take someone like Jermod McCoy, Keionte Scott, or Kyle Louis. Hell, Pregnon, McCoy, and Louis would have been a better third round than what the Steelers got.

    Indeed it is.

Why the likes of Colbert and Tomlin elect to have the overall unit atrophy into a complete laughing stock is unbeknownst to me.

Their aversion to investing in a center when the time came to replace Pouncey drove me nuts. They didn't just pass on studs like Linderbaum and Humphrey. Passing on a solid guy like Biadasz to take MacFarland also sticks out as a costly mistake, one that really held the team back until they finally took Frazier.

What do you think of Pregnon? Seems like taking him with the first third-rounder would have been a much better idea.

I don't disagree, but seeing McNeil-Warren highlights, hardly impressed. Seems slow. The production numbers were good, I am sure he'll be good, but just doesn't fit first round material. I think he got drafted about where he should have.

Actually, I'd like to see them draft one of those in say round 6 and punt freaking Rudolph to the CFL/XFL/AFL/NoFL

I'd love to see Howard/Allar/Payton duke it out. I feel pretty confident we'd have an above average starting QB shake loose.

Yep, I'd like to see an ILB. Maybe if one keeps falling they can trade up again and grab em. I wouldn't hate another QB in round 6 lets get pre-season competition with a fresh coach and OC and fresh OL coaches. Let it heat up to boil and see what shakes loose. We have to keep going to the QB well until we find THE guy and then we can ease up for 8 or 10 years.

This is the worst draft in the Khan era, and I have to attribute it to McCarthy and his coaching staff. Khan is better than this.

    This seems premature.
