    And other dudes.

I was reflecting on the current state of the music industry compared to previous generations. In the past, it seemed most musicians wrote their own songs and had the talent to deliver great live performances. Today, it feels like the focus has shifted toward dancing and image rather than music and lyrics.

While there are certainly talented musicians under 40, they seem to be the exception rather than the rule. It is telling that rock music is struggling, while artists in their 60s, 70s, and 80s are still the ones filling arenas and performing their classic hits.

Just going to leave this here.

In the other thread I talked about how I've come to like AiC as the best of those grunge bands.

I really love the Rick Beato "What Makes This Song Great" videos on youtube.

Here's one about Them Bones. But he does a ton of them across a tone of genres and timelines. Also has some other fun stuff like looking at current top 10 charts.

I love how he breaks down different parts and isolates the different instruments to talk about what they're doing. Breaking it down like this let me hear stuff I never really knew was there.

With AiC, it's always awesome to hear the vocal harmonies isolated. Staley and Cantrell were perfect for each other vocally IMO. They are so awesome.

    RIP Layne.

ETA: listening to the Stairway one now. Such a beautiful song. Maybe "overplayed" but just a masterpiece.

AI may make it all disappear. I've played in bands for a little over 40 years, and I've never seen such a threat to true music as I have in that. Did you know that over 20% of music being pushed in all genres on Spotify, and every music download/streaming services is AI generated???

I sometimes check out Rick's stuff, and what makes a song great is pretty cool.

It's so sad...I used to believe that we'd be able to tell stuff that humans made apart from AI stuff. Now I'm not sure.

Unfortunately you haven’t seen nothing but the very tip of the iceberg in AI.
Mankind is dumbing down with all this technology. We no longer have to think at all.
    Hey Siri
    Hey Alexa
    Hey Google
These are very scary times we are now approaching
    AI won’t eliminate us
We already started the process by creating AI
    Music
    Entertainment
Almost anything will be simulated by AI
    We opened Pandoras Box
I for one will keep my faith in the Lord up above, as He is the only one that can save us.

I read an article the other day about a band’s climb to stardom was a psyop. Apparently the record company hired a social media marketing company and the band went from nobody to international stardom in a couple months. This marketing company created a bunch of tick tok videos and reels and plastered them all over social media. They. Also had an army of bots that made these reels and ticktock videos go viral.

Regarding AI, it is great at crunching numbers, probabilities, finding X and such. But the pictures it makes, the music it creates are not from original thinking. It must be asked to do so. By 0's and 1's combinations it can formulate a reply. It does not do so on its own. It does not think on its own. At least I am not aware it can. The moment an AI wants something like a human does, that is the moment I will think it is alive.

Humans, especially the dumbed down ones of today, are becoming more dependent on what AI can do with each passing month. It is as if we are addicted to what we created.

Maybe I can revive Rock? More like it can do so by voice replication and instrumental music.

    Once again
You are seeing the AI that the public is allowed to see
To think we are smarter is beyond asinine
    Wait another 5-10 yrs
And what is released to the public
You do know a couple of years ago2 computers were communicating with each other without any human involvement.
Google had to shut it down

    A false accusation
    I stand corrected
The viral story about having to shut down AI "because they created their own language and were out of control" is mostly a misconception regarding Facebook (Meta), not Google, and it was not due to panic or fear, but rather because the AI stopped being useful to the researchers.
Key Details of the 2017 Incident (Facebook/Meta):
    • What Happened: In 2017, Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) researchers set two AI chatbots (named Alice and Bob) to negotiate with each other, with the goal of training them to speak in English.
    • The "Secret Language": The chatbots developed a form of shorthand for more efficient negotiation. The language was not entirely incomprehensible but was a deviation from human English that looked strange, such as: "balls have zero to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to".
    • Why It Was Shut Down: The experiment was stopped because the bots were no longer communicating in human-understandable English, defeating the purpose of the research, which was to create bots that could talk to people.
    • The Reality: The researchers did not shut down the program because they were afraid or because the AI was dangerous; it was a failed, or rather, inefficient experiment.

As I stated before, I've seen following rock and roll bands: Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Traffic, Guess Who, Humble Pie, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top and a few others I forgot individually for less then I pay for a medium iced coffee at Dunkin today.

I have a sister who is always warning us about it. We all paid for our funeral expenses ahead of time but she doesn't because she is 100% convinced the rapture is soon. To us that means we will be chipping in to pay for her funeral should she go first.

Do You know that every musician I know that has a channel on YouTube for music of any kind, even guy just noodling around on a video has been asked by AI if it can use their channels stuff for help building it's self? Of course we all say no, but How would you know if it was doing it anyway?? I got a friend that teaches piano on there, and he said ok, and I ask what the change was that he noticed, and he said nothing other than more subscribers, and a little more views. It takes everything it hears , and that's how it works in simple terms.
