Richardson was a far worse selection. Blowing the fourth overall pick on a disaster is a hell of a lot worse than taking a shot on a guy at 20. Pickett was also put in a worse situation and played better, though neither was good.

The jury is still out on Richardson. He has a lot more talent than Pickett, and could end up redeeming himself. Can't say the same for Pickett, I'd be surprised if he's still in the league another 2 years.

There are still people foolish enough to be taken in by Richardson's physical tools, but he has made it very clear he isn't a starting-caliber NFL quarterback.

I dont have the list in front of me but off the top of my head the only QB I am taking Pickett over is Manziel.

If I had a team and my only two choices for QB are Pickett and Richardson, Richardson every time.

So you want some turnovers before your guy gets hurt. Got it.

All but one of those with a joke of an offensive coordinator, terrible offensive line, two wide receivers who folks here insist had to go, and a running back Blast and others here insist wasn't any good.

(I say all but one because he did get that one full game without Canada.)

I've watched Richardson play a few games and other than the 1st quarter vs Steelers in 2024 before he got injured and Flacco took over... he has been terrible.

So has Pickett but only one of them has elite traits. If Richardson could stay healthy he could still be developed. What the hell is Pickett going to develop into. Small glove model?

They are both injury prone. Richardson failed in a situation with a good offensive coach, solid receivers, an elite running back, and good offensive line. Pickett had none of that and he was still better than Richardson. I don't want either of them because they are both injury prone, but Richardson is far worse.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I've seen nothing from Richardson to make me believe he is even on par with successful backup QBs like Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett, Tyler Huntley, Mason Rudolph, etc.

We saw Richardson put in a fantastic situation and fail miserably before repeatedly getting hurt. Pickett was better under far worse circumstances before also repeatedly getting hurt.

Me too, but for different reasons. I can change Richardson into a TE, or Wr, so I wouldn't lose out completely on my pick, and that would be the only reason . I still can't believe someone actually watched Richardson play football, and said hey this will make a great 4th pick in the draft. LoL

I know everyone will laugh, and I think Richardson suck, but I would have bet big money had He played under what many of You think was a suck a$$ HC Tomlin, Richardson would have won more games.
We've seen the proof with Old Wilson, Old Rodgers, Mason, and Fields.

He would have but it’s because Tomlin has them play a safe brand of football, he knows he doesnt have quality QB play so he doesnt ask them to do too much. Thats why the QB numbers like Pickett and Fields looked the same.

The problem is that brand of football isnt going to win you playoff games so you have to ask yourself, why do it? It’s just going to keep you mired in mediocrity.

drafted higher and has “more talent” and somehow he isn’t a bigger bust than Pickett at 20?

    pretzel logic

    Context:

Miller polled scouts and executives to make the list, which included only pre-draft evaluations.

Top to bottom organizational philosophy and point of view that the team is just a piece or two away of breaking through Win the most games possible each season and see what happens.

Team has taken the same approach my entire lifetime. Do not suspect it is going to change anytime soon.
