    A great speaker I disagree with. Um city. But a great wordsmith is his wheel house. I couldn't stand listening to his babble. And how he rated the opposition in his Tuesdays pressers like they all were All Pros. I stopped listening to his word salad a couple of years ago.

    "I can't give you the ingredients to a hot dog you might not like it" WTF?

    Squashing grapes to make grape jelly or something asinine like that.

    Now his word salad babble is probably going to be on NBC Football Night in America since Dungy was fired.

    The hot dog one for when he applied it was particularly stupid, didnt want to answer if he gave a game ball to Russel Wilson. Yeah, protect that earth shattering secret, Mike :rolleyes:

    Tomlin is gone and yet the usual suspects are still whining

    There are some people who just whine all the time

    I feel sorry for them

    I'm not whining... just relieved that Popcorn moved on to his life's work.

    I would like to add just a bit more here is a video of Manning showing kids the 5 step drop..https://www.google.com/search?q=the...ate=ive&vld=cid:42d29560,vid:5QJmwm95DEo,st:0

    The big key is when the QB hits that backfoot the ball comes out ..It's not a look read and scan the field ..What does that mean ? It means the QB has to know the Defense , he has to see the correct guy to throw to before the snap .. In other words study a lot of tape and trust that study so the ball comes out on time..

    The reason I expanded on this , because it relates to the 2 minute drill as well.. What Defensive package is on the field ? What type of coverages are they trying to run ? Where are the weakest spots ? What are our best plays ? So on and so on.. The moral to the story is more film study , more knowing what to do ..

    Command thru knowledge and practice ..Basically the Coach needs the QB to be the Coach on the field a lot of the times ...Know what to do and why comes 1st. and then execute ..

    Few throws over the middle is what mostly happened in 2025 under Art Smith. He is gone. We should do a bit more of it in 2026...I think. The 2026 offense will be different.

    According to MM, he isn't watching a lot of tape either. He did a "lap with some of the scouts through a few prospects" or something.

    I am bringing the fact that in Green Bay, MM got a rep for not really working all that hard compared to other coaches and then giving vague answers to try and slip out of the accusation.

    Maybe he is better now...

    Yeah....I can not really get into the details like you can. I can not remember the last NFL press conference Steelers related or otherwise that I actually paid attention to and watched first hand.

    I can really only go by what I read/see second and third hand.

    If you are saying there is a significant difference, than there is. Be interesting to see how post-game goes in the regular season.

    The last time Tomline had a division leading schedule, they were trying to squeeze out Ben's last year before retirement and had 9.5 wins, so I don't know how useful that will be.

    Another difference is the Steelers still had a tough schedule in 2025.
    They go from a 2nd division to a 1st division schedule. This year's division-leading schedule is barely any tougher (or might be the same).
    In 2025, the Steelers played Seattle (14-3) LAC (11-6) Colts (8-9). This year it will be the Denver (14-3) Eagles (11-6) Pats (14-3). (two similar teams, third is much tougher game)
    Replace AFC East with AFC South. (Similar)
    Replace NFC Central (all teams over .500 record) with NFC South (all teams under .500 record). (easier)

    The team I'm anticipating crashing to the ground due to a dvision-leading schedule is New England (unless Vrabel is as good as advertised), because they go from last in the AFC East to 1st.
    Instead of playing the Raiders (3-14) Titans (3-14) Giants (4-13), they get Seattle (14-3) Jacksonville (13-4) Steelers (10-7)
    They go from NFC South and AFC Central (with Bengals and Ravens having down years) to the NFC Central and AFC West (will Chiefs rebound?).

    ----

    If you think looking at the Steelers' history with a division-leading schedule is meaningful, then let's go all the way back to Cowher, and list how things turned out, at least for the regular season.

    - Cowher -
    1992 (11-5) 1st of 4
    1993 (9-7) 2nd of 4 -> -2 games
    1994 (12-4) 1st of 4
    1995 (11-5) 1st of 5 -> -1 game
    1996 (10-6) 1st of 5 -> -1 game
    1997 (11-5) 1st of 5 -> +1 game
    1998 (7-9) 3rd of 5 -> -4 games

    2001 (13-3) 1st of 6
    2002 (10-5-1) 1st of 4 -> -2.5 games
    2003 (6-10) 3rd of 4 -> -3.5 games
    2004 (15-1) 1st of 4
    2005 (11-5) 2nd of 4 -> -4 games

    - Tomlin -
    2007 (10-6) 1st of 4
    2008 (12-4) 1st of 4 -> +2 games
    2009 (9-7) 3rd of 4 -> -5 games
    2010 (12-4) 1st of 4
    2011 (12-4) 2nd of 4 -> same record

    2014 (11-5) 1st of 4
    2015 (10-6) 2nd of 4 -> -1 game
    2016 (11-5) 1st of 4
    2017 (13-3) 1st of 4 -> +2 games
    2018 (9-6-1) 2nd of 4 -> -3.5 games

    2020 (12-4) 1st of 4
    2021 (9-7-1) 2nd of 4 -> -4.5 games, Ben's last year

    Going to Ohio State pro day is like a one hour flight, Khan/McCarthy couldn't make it there with all that talent available :rolleyes:.

    If Rodgers returns the situation is no different than Roethlisberger's last season.

    You're thinking MM is a players coach like MT. He isn't. My opinion Tomlin was overly involved with the draft.

    It comes across as looking kind of lazy to go to only one pro day, I agree Tomlin could connect more with the players. Tomlin would be all on the field as players go through the drills, he would also ask the college teams who they got that he should be interested in the next year stuff like that.
