John Madden was hilarious

In the movie The Replacements. Just saying.

 

That is awhile back. It was funny. Thing I remember most about John was his fear of flying made him drive a lot for MNF.

 

the network built him his own bus

 

The turducken thing was a bit weird.

 

Hated him as a coach
Absolutely loved him as an announcer
Took years to develop that love
Oh
I hated the Raiders and that fat ass coach!

 

No doubt he was a very well respected analyst. The guy survived working for Al Davis and is best described as needing a good tailor who was always over caffeinated that spewed Xs & Os in vivid color.

 

For east coast games he took the train and it took him 3 days

A friend who liked to use Amtrak met Madden multiple times in the bar car and they became friends

Apparently Madden was really nice

Once the train broke down in a small Wisconsin town and it was going to be a while so he and Madden decided to go into town to bar hop

Madden walked into the first bar and bought a round of drinks for everyone

 

I can barely remember this guy, but Art Donovan was the NFL's King of Comedy.
