Farewell to an old message board

This is the only Steelers message board I have joined.

 

That's the only other Steelers board I've been a member of.

 

Yeah she's gone. The domain expired and someone is squatting on it. I've taken the journey from the Trib to SN to PS and now have landed here.

One of the bigger problems with forums I've helped with in the past (including SN) is the themes get outdated and become incompatible with updated versions of the forum software. So if you're trying to preserve the themes, things start breaking pretty quickly. Keeping those updated would actually be a great use case for Claude Code or Codex...

Of course the kids nowadays just go on reddit. I imagine I'm one of the younger people in the forum crowd and I'm in my mid-30s now

 

I remember people talking about the Scout forums back in the day and I think they were like that. Seems that site is no longer a thing either. I guess I hadn't realized since I just go to 247 for college recruiting stuff now.

 

No. I know I had a Cthulhu avatar at one time. And My Fantasy football name on there was The Thing that Should Not Be. That's all I remember.

 

Yeah I don't remember my actual board name, but I did have that avatar. I remember once I misspelled Super Bowl, and spelled Super Bowel , and people had a great laugh at that. LoL

Does anybody recall exactly just why Steelers.com closed down that original board? I never heard why.

I used to be on the Steelers Addicts forum but it went belly up around 9 years ago and I came over here. I remember the old Steelers.com forum that was always my go to site for information but I never officially joined it.

 

I loved it, and I never joined another till this one. Hell I read the messages on here for many years until I finally decided to join.

Not even at draft day much less on Day 2. Depends on what the board looks like.

 

Do you ever see any of the residents wandering around any other boards?

 

I did notice some new members were starting to show up during last season.

 

I was a " Legend" on the Planet. Now I'm simply a "well known member"....

My first was Stillers.com. I didn't last long. The few who posted were nasty. It was a no holds barred board. That message board been gone for awhile.

IMO none better for Steeler football and for other Pittsburgh sports then TSF. I'm on a Pirate message board that has very few posters. More people post in TSF Other Sports section about the Pirates then on their own board.
