Do you think the Steelers will make a splash move in free agency?

Without a real QB, it's just false hope.

Naw they will have to pay Marshmallow Heyward more dough because as we all know he needs to feed his family!

After the smoke dies down when the coast is clear they will sign a few cast offs.

    OLD SCHOOL!!!

That should at least move them up the NFLPA rankings.

While I mostly agree, I also think that Rodgers could have a Darnold-type season if we put the right pieces around him. Solid Run game, a weapon opposite DK and an O-line that can give him more than 2 seconds to survey the field. That's a lot but IMO, Rodgers could give us a 4k yard, 25 TD / 14 INT season. I haven't felt that possibility at the position since Ben (and I wasn't a fan of bringing Rodgers here in the first place).

The only "splash" move the Steelers will make is when McCarthy does a cannonball into the pool this summer.

Doesn't count as UFA, but apparently we just traded for Michael Pitman Jr. Basically free "late round pick swap".
    https://steelersdepot.com/2026/03/report-steelers-acquiring-wr-michael-pittman-jr-from-colts/

But apparently we're extending him for 3 years (he'll be 31 when the contract ends) for just under $20MM / year (a pay cut from the $24MM he was set to earn this year).

I think I like this move because it basically doesn't cost any draft capital. As always, will wait until we see the structure of the deal.

I think it's good that we've finally realized that having 2 NFL WRs on a team is a good idea. Although I'd still expect a WR on day 2 of the draft (maybe even day 1).

But I think this trade supports the idea that Rodgers is coming back. We'll have two established vets who can start. Then, (hopefully) a young guy who can grow into a WR1/2.

We'll still have R Wilson on the roster (at least going into camp). If he can be a WR4, then I think we'll be in good shape at WR after a day 1 / 2 WR pick. Even without a high value draft pick at WR, we've probably already got better WRs than we've had in years (very low bar).

Like DK, not technically a UFA....I guess. I tend to think that trades offer better value than straight UFA signings, so I like it.

Now I don't know if we sign a bigger name UFA.

    I would like to see a CB2. Or a S

It's a part of the free agency period just like when they traded for Metcalf last year at this time.

They traded for Pittman. This thread is about free agency.

I agree that it's still a high value acquisition.

I don't particularly care how they get on the roster.

And my guess is that trades offer better cap value than UFA deals because you can still threaten to use the tag.

I think that's why we got him for a pay cut from his scheduled salary in 2026.

    He's a real WR2. Something we haven't had in a while.
