Webster, lol. I was thinking Gary Coleman. Then we can also sign Malik Willis so Murray can say in the QB meetings "Whut choo talkin' bout Willis?"

What is your preferred solution at QB for the 2026 season? Genuine question.

I’m not talking about the long term as there is no path to a long term QB this year that I can see.

Start Rudolph. When he craps the bed after three or four games let Howard take his lumps. Steelers draft their franchise QB in 2027 picking in the top 10.

(it is not a crime to have a losing season, and teams don't get extra credit for one)

I wouldn’t hate this but we know the team won’t do it. They will bring in a veteran QB to start.

Rooney has repeatedly said that he doesn’t believe in rebuilds and McCarthy isn’t going to want to go with Rudolph and Howard in his first season (or any season).

Rodgers comes back. Have Howard sit and learn from a 1st ballot HOFer. Odds are that Rodgers will miss a few games so Howard will get a chance to start.

Or have the Reindeer start and have Howard take over when it goes South because it will. Still draft a QB in the later rounds.

People on the outside as well as in the building are on board with Howard. Smokescreen? Maybe. We need to find out.

Waiting till next season as we have seen does not guarantee a solid crop of QB's in 2027.

Fair enough. And that is probably what will happen. As in Rodgers coming back

I can’t see them going into the season with Mason as the #1. That’s giving up on the season and neither Rooney nor McCarthy will do it

I agree but stranger things have happened.

They could possibly throw a few lower round picks for Mac Jones for a one year rental.

And thank goodness that reports indicate that Minnesota wants to scoop up the 5'8" blunder Murrey. And the short king wants to play for the Vikings.

They aren't getting Mac Jones for 'lower-round picks." He isn't expensive. The 49ers don't have to trade him, so they don't have to take a loweball offer.

That makes perfect sense. They are clearing the deck for Mendoza with the #1 pick.

I like Geno. He seems like a good dude. He plays hard. He just is one of those quarterbacks that can't consistently play at a high enough level because he makes too many mistakes.

    Maybe he's being considered?

I was being facetious but I dont think he is as bad as he appeared last year, I think we’d get the Geno closer to what we saw in Seattle.

Raiders were a dumpster fire last year with Chip Kelly. Why that guy keeps getting opportunity's at this level is beyond me.

Chip Kelly has a lot of experience but it is all experience in sucking.

I think he would be better too. The Raiders roster was awful.

I'm not sure Cousins isn't better right now. 5 years ago, no contest, but by September:shrug:

Dunno. A few of these were great plays by the defense but plenty were just awful decisions by Smith, double and triple covered, bad reads against zone.

(very first play had me laugh with the announcer, talk about jinxing the QB..LOL)

This year, I am starting to warm to Simpson, but the smart play is pick Allar, Nussmeier or Beck in rounds 3/4 and let them compete with Howard and whomever the 3rd QB is (hopefully not Mason, but probably some vet QB low-ceiling retread like Mason).

I'd REALLY like to see them draft Haynes King from GT, especially if he slides down into 5th round. He loooks like a so-so passer, but he seems to get it done, maybe a good QB coach can get his footwork tighter and his release more compact? Add in a blazing 40-dash for a QB and he is quite the mid/late round stash.

I'd be tickled if they start the year with Howard, Beck/Allar/Nussmeier and King and let the three duke it out for a month. See who puts in the extra time every day, who shows up early, who eats up coaching and then grade that versus actual scrimmage processing and ball placement and let em start game 1.

I realize that QB room has no vets, but screw it, lets get after our next semi-franchise QB NOW. Growth by fire..
