Presumably this is a Russ type deal where he will earn vet minimum as the Cardinals pick up his salary and eat the dead money.

Honestly I still wouldn’t want him. He will probably be a Jet next season

And to think the Cardinals made Lollipop Guild Murray the first overall pick in the draft and now they are paying him millions just to get the hell out of town.

Yeah, Arizona owes Murray 36.8 million guaranteed in 2026.

I do wonder if he is a better option than Rodgers, in that there is at least a possibility of catching lighting in a bottle with Murray. It’s unlikely but possible. He played well in Arizona at times, but he is small and has struggled to stay healthy. At vet minimum there is absolutely no risk however.

It’s fine to dismiss everyone that is available, Murray, Kirk, Tua etc etc but I wouldn’t feel good about another season of Rodgers and I’m not on the Howard train.

No thanks. An expensive head case QB with work ethic issues and is only 5'10.

I don't want to watch sideline patterns and dirt balls a whole season because he can't see over the O-line.

We finally have a coach that will throw over the middle of the field to Tight Ends, so no need to pickup a short QB that can't see them..

    Don't think he's good.

But I think I'd prefer him over Rodgers.

But that's because I think it's more of a "rebuild" move because I think he has (1) a higher ceiling (which he probably won't reach) and (2) a lower floor.

So I think the most likely outcome is having a better draft pick than 20 next season.

My guess is that the team prefers Rodgers. Because it reduces the chance of playing meaningless regular season games.

If we go with Murray, we’re basically saying “no” to a structured offense and “yes” to a passing offense that’s nearly 100% based on broken, off script plays. Can anyone think of a championship that was won by a team that relied almost entirely on random big plays for its passing attack? It’s fun to watch for a handful of plays per game, but I’ll take a structured passing attack that is harmonized with the run game in a single, cohesive scheme that can sustain drives and score points when needed rather than at random points in a game when the stars align.

Murray is a heck of an athlete I'll give him that. He is the first athlete ever to be drafted in the top 10 in two different sports. #1 overall in football and #9 over all in major league baseball.

Would rather rent Rodgers for one more year or start Howard.

Used to think Murray was worth a try, but not anymore.

Off of that roster, I'd rather have Jacoby Brissett.

Wasn’t that Big Ben’s game? Still think he couldn’t convert 2nd, 3rd and 4th and 5 in SB XLV as they were more structured plays.

Murray makes sense if Tomlin was still around. Heard Rodgers has entered a darkness retreat for the foreseeable future.

I think the Steelers have shown over the course of decades that this idea that the Steelers are going to start some QB and if he sucks, they will get a high draft pick isn't going to happen. The Steelers won't allow it. If they start Howard or Murray or Willis or a rookie and he starts losing games, they will insert Mason and grind out 9 wins. We aren't going to have a high draft pick if their chosen QB sucks.

Hell no! I'd rather have Duck Hodges as our QB over midget Murray.

Kyler Murray as a Starting QB?! It is debatable if Kyler is even that anymore. He is far too athletic for his own good.

The basics of the QB Position, for him at this point in his career, are an afterthought. Like Cam Newton, he will bounce around based on pure athleticism alone. Unlike Cam Newton, he will flame out far faster.

At this point?! Roll with Will Howard and see what you have unless Aaron Rodgers does elect to return.

I'm halfway hoping Rodgers does retire, would love to see what Howard can do as a starter. If he sucks, just draft a QB in 2027.

    You are probably right.

Not playing meaningless regular season games seems to be the "prime directive"
