Simpson is the first guy they’ve met with that I have no interest in as a Steeler.

Zane Durant the DT from Penn State just ran a 4.75 at 296 lbs. He's only 6'1" but has elite speed and a relentless motor. He could be taken by one of the 3rd round selections.

I agree with that. I was just responding to the quoted writer who said that Ponds played nickel. He played outside last season and was exceptional at it. His style of play projects well to a 3 down nickel. He is aggressive and fearless. He became one of my favorite college players last season after watching a couple of IU games.

Geez David Bailey just ran a 4.51. He might be the first edge rusher taken this year.

Sonny Styles is likely going top 10 after his impressive workout.

40 times are largely irrelevant for EDGE Players. The 10 yard split, vertical jump, broad jump, short shuttle and three cone matter a lot more. His 10 Yard Split is disappointing at 1.62 seconds. Compared that to Arvell Reese's 1.56 Seconds. For that matter, Cashius Howell, Malachai Lawrence and even T.J. Parker all have better 10 Yard Splits than Bailey; Parker being the biggest surprise. I have a link here courtesy of NFL.com on where Bailey stacks against his peers; overall not good imo.

My biggest issue with him is when he is up against equally physical freaks of nature in the NFL. Add in his slightly above average athletic skills and Bailey, to me, is one of the most dangerous players to draft. Remember that the EDGE Position is largely a tools based position for a lot of athleticism is required as the foundation to become a good pass rusher. The best rushers have some of the best traits, T.J. Watt has the bend, Nik Bonitto has the get off while Myles is a one of one all together.

David Bailey doesn't compare to any of the three.

And the 4.46 he ran just put him in the top 5

Styles 44" vertical was the highest by a player over 6'4" since they started testing for it in 2003.

Which will be a massive mistake given the fact he is all finesse and no power. He is a rock solid speed rusher but doesn't have that elite speed nor burst to truly impact the game. He is more Jaelen Phillips than he is Micah Parsons.

If anything and, as I stated many times leading up to the draft, Arvell Reese is a much better comp.

I totally forgot about Yahya. Isn't he a little tall for a NT though? Can he keep his pad level low enough to absorb?

I agree with you on Benton.

would love to see this kid in black and gold. he is legit. wouldn't mind seeing him against jamar chase twice a year. his height hasn't affected this kids play, he takes on all comers. receivers are just as big in college and it didn't bother him. if it were me i'd bring pierre and samuel back and draft this kid. with echols still here we would have a nice defensive backfield of corners. the sum of all parts approach.

Maybe, but even though receivers are just as big, QBs are better at ball placement to take advantage of the size differential (especially one as good a Burrow). I’d be happy to see him give it a go, and if he proves he can be great outside, then that’s great. However, I think his floor (and likely NFL position) is to be a great nickel and I’d take that any day.

I like Simpson in the first round IF he tests well in throwing and in the S2. Things like accuracy, velocity on the football and QB smarts matter. I could care less if he runs a 4.7 forty. Just as long as it is not 4.9 of greater.

Other details such as hand size ( 9' or greater ) matter a bit.

His upside as qb prospect exceeds that of a player who started 22+ games

A one year wonder who's physical toolkit far exceeds Baileys.

Remember that EDGE is more heavily tools dependent than traits. Doesn't mean Bailey won't have a good career but Arvell has way too much physical and athletic talent in comparison.

Kept telling people that, if I were a betting man, Styles has HOF Potential.

The Combine did not surprise me in the slightest sans the height. Thought he was 6'4 but it makes no difference. Dude is special indeed.

If I am John Harbaugh, I'd take him at pick five. That would be an instant upgrade for a team that desperately needs it.
