I didn't think you did and I wasn't sure if I had missed something. Some misinterpretation perhaps

remember when people were fighting to keep dog tracks open?

I avoid L.A. like the plague so, I haven't seen their homeless problem first hand. I've seen the homeless here in San Diego, Portland, Seattle and, played a game my stepson calls "guess the species of the feces" when he lived in downtown San Francisco.

How does that pertain to the conversation? Do you really think only white people lose their **** about dogs being hurt? I assure you every dog owner of every walk of life cares.

You make bizarre leaps with your assumptions. Because people have empathy for dogs they can’t have empathy for anything else. What you cant wrap your head around is I dont believe the girl was raped. The funny thing is you make your argument like its from a position of strength and Ben was charged, he wasn’t and sorry, no I dont believe a dumb jock like Ben would duck a rape charge just because he is the QB of of Pittsburgh Steelers. His star power wasnt that great.

Furthermore you have to believe that his teammates were in on it and helped Ben rape her or that he would lead them into an accomplice charge. Your problem is you are a 100% believe women guy and leave no room for anything else. I lost that naive belief whenI had an argument with RayD from here when a woman accused the Talking Dead host of abuse and proved to be false. I was you in that argument. That changed the way I viewed that whole mantra.

If Ben did a stretch for rape I wouldnt forgive him when he got out either. Wtf. I don’t care that Vick paid his debt, doesnt erase the things he did.

I totally agree with everything you said......except the Vick part. I'm a owner of many animals, and if I actually caught Vick doing what he did, he probably would never have went to trial, and I would have instead, but......, but I do believe if You have paid your debt to society, did Your time, I need to at least give You the benefit of a doubt that you changed. Otherwise what's it all for???
Everything else you said I one million times agree with.

The issue with Vick and paying his debt and changing his attitude that I have and Im sure others as well is that when the behavior he exhibited is talked about in great detail it becomes obvious that it wasn't mistaken behavior it was sociopathic. That is hard wired into an adult personality and isn't changeable, most times it gets hidden or suppressed until it breaks loose but it never goes away. So yeah he paid his debt, did his time and educates young players to the pitfalls of fame but the guy who strangled, beat, drowned, and electrocuted animals is still in there and it will show up.

I have one nephew who is the same age as my son, he is a really sweet kid in most circumstances but there are times Ive seen flashes where he could become like Dexter. I mean we love him, he is family but he is scary at times because he seems so detached about things. My sister has a few chickens for eggs and eventually food, most young kids around here would be attached to family chickens as sort of pets, my nephew could walk in to the coop, pick one out and chop its head off and have zero reaction to it. He is enthusiastic about keeping the rabbit population under control.

@Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace that reminds me of the Jerry Sandusky discussions we had on the board and the very strong reactions across the spectrum that we had on the board especially when Penn State tried to remove a lot of Paterno's legacy at the school when all the details came out.

At one point in time I had 6 strays/rescues/rejects/unwanted living in my house and she would come on telling me I should do more grrrrr

Plus they ruined a good song

I remember yelling at the TV during the National Dog Show when they said they would donate a dollar to some animal shelter for every bag of food bought “I am a ****ing animal shelter send the money to me”

Fortunately my vet gave me a huge break

Rant over back to our regularly scheduled discussion

Hold up.. so you can point out Peezy’s off field issues but Ben’s are off limits or easily refuted because he paid settlements after being accused?

    Mostly.. yes.

My argument definitely is from a position of strength. One time.. maybe. Twice? Nah.. someone is living foul.

Ben.. “people grow, people improve, become a better person” That’s all well and good but the man admits he wasn’t a good teammate early in his career. Multiple sources talk about how terrible he used to be and how he has matured.

Its fine that you believe he isn’t the ogre he was accused of being by 2 women. This still doesn’t erase the fact that we have to question if he is or not.

I’m sorry but if you have to say you don’t believe someone was a rapist (twice) you already lost the high ground.

and I’m definitely not a 100% believe women type of guy. I had a friend spend a few months in Allegheny county downtown because his GF lied to her parents when they found out he was Black. Thankfully she finally admitted she lied.

What I’m not is 100% believe the athlete because I like him when he has 2 accusations. I would stop defending him the moment the second accusation happened.

I would like to believe that if you knew someone in real life and they were accused of rape you would defend them but the moment the second accusation happened you would more than likely question why it keeps happening to them.

You're trying to turn this into something else because your points don't hold up. Why are you trumpeting Porter's claims but ignoring the players defending Ben and telling others to go F themselves for the stuff they are saying? Oh that's right. Those people don't support your unsubstantiated claims.

Porter's comments started a conversation that pointed the media and anyone that would listen to unsubstantiated accusations of Ben's that were investigated. Ben was not charged in the incident.

Porter's claims were posted here. His claims were shouted with a bullhorn around the country. They were and are already being discussed. I didn't say that claims against Ben are off limits. I just made sure people knew that the credibility of Ben's accuser should be in question and that Porter was the only convicted criminal between the two.

Don't give me this crap about poor Porter's laundry list of verified offenses, guilty pleas, and bad judgement being off limits. I brought them up precisely because he is the one screaming to the media to hurt Roethlisberger. It matters what people that make accusations have actually done in their lives. There are reasons why Porter's credibility is in question.

You're one of the people supporting Porter. He's the guy that has been charged and convicted of breaking the law multiple times.

It was you who said "Joey has the experience needed to identify bad behavior."

    That's your go to?

You think Porter is qualified to sit in judgement because he did bad things. If his past transgressions put him in a better place to sit in judgement, I guess you can scour prisons everywhere to seek out the worst of the worst inmates to find the pinnacle of judgement and wisdom to talk to your kids about what bad behavior is.

Are those the people you would seek out to council your children? Is that where you find truth?

No matter how hard you try to push your opinion, you are pronouncing someone as being guilty that has never been charged or convicted from the incident you insist was rape.

Innocent until proven guilty is the bedrock of our judicial system. If they had proof they would have charged him. There wasn't proof.

    That's how the law works.
