If Jeremiah Smith didn't exist I would expect Sayin, Moore, and Manning to be the top 3 picks in the draft. Smith is going in there though. There's a realistic chance that all three of those guys are gone in the top 5... I was referencing that we would have a shot at those guys if we started Rudolph/Howard and just... had a bad season. It would get us into the top 10, and then we could figure out a trade to move up... I think starting Rodgers and winning games isn't the best strategy long term. Figuring out what we have in Howard (or rolling with Mason for a chunk of the year) could set us up in the long run with the answer at QB.

I remember back around august people saying how we should tank because of all the great quarterbacks that were going to be in the first round this draft

Now I’m hearing wait till next year

This is reason number 7 of 132 on why you do not tank

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up from the 27th pick to the 10th overall spot to select Patrick Mahomes, targeting him as their future quarterback. The Chiefs traded their 2017 first-round pick (No. 27), a 2017 third-round pick (No. 91), and their 2018 first-round pick to the Buffalo Bills to secure the spot.

It's possible to move up in the draft without being the worst team in the league. You just have to give up more to go up higher and be damn sure he's your guy.

AR2 will not let us tank. AR likely starting again, thats what its beginning to look like. It’ll be interesting to see if Howard moves up to no 2 or if MR can hold him off.

that last part has worried me under Tomlin and his crew, Hopefully McCarthy’s team is better at Qb evaluation.

Can't be worst than Kenny Pickett as "the guy"! (and I was admittedly a KP8 supporter)

I personally thought Pickett might end up being a pass around pack. As it turned out, he did. Lucky “gut” guess on my part.

Teams are desperate for an experienced backup and some GM will offer him a contract at least minimum

Penn State proved Vinny Testaverde could not read a defense before he was drafted and yet he was taken number 1 and lasted 21 years and was on 8 teams

It's a lot easier to trade to 10 than to 3.

The value of pick 3 is so much higher than pick 10.

And while a lot of people rag on Buffalo for this trade, it did allow them to get their QB of the future too. Because this trade with KC gave them the ammo they needed in a QB class that was (or at least looked to be) the best class since we drafted Ben.

KC "won" this trade because Mahomes turned out to be Mahomes.

But the Bills also made an excellent play here.

And Mahomes maybe doesn't become Mahomes if he's not under Reid.

Speaking of that draft the Bungles selected Jonathan Ross at 9 and could have had Mahomes. Where would they be now if they didn’t bungle that move?

Probably could have won a bunch of money if you would have bet he’d have a SB ring.

Same place they are now? I mean, they got Joe Burrow and went to a super bowl. And they've bungled things since then. Seems like they'd have the same trajectory with Mahomes.

Patrick is a major cry baby for flags and has been protected by the men stripes most of his career. Joe gets beat down like a rag doll with hardly a yellow hanky in sight. You’re right though, Mike Brown would have ruined Mahomes career as well.

Reminds me of another QB who won seven rings. Most QBs don't play like Ben anymore.

I am doubtful of will Howard because of where he was drafted and I didn’t see him carry his college team on his shoulders like Lawrence and burrow.
His college career reminded me more of Purdy and hurts.

That's because over a half dozen QB's who would have gone in the first round decided to go back to college. They will be out of eligibility next year and have no choice but to turn pro in 2027.

I am not believing the Malik Willis hype.

Some team is going to overpay and sign him to a 3 year $80 million contract. Like last year when the Jets signed Justin Fields to a 2 year $40 million contract with $30 million guaranteed.

Mahomes would not have a SB ring just like Burrow. I'm convinced Bengals and Browns will never get it right. Glad they are in the AFCN.

Agree on Willis. I don't see him doing anything special in the NFL.
