That is about the only positive. McCarthy knows offense. Dak Prescott is overrated and a playoff choker, and McCarthy got a ton out of him. He sometimes has weird playcalls and decisions, such as having Zeke, an RB, snap the ball, but his offenses rack up passing yards. McCarthy's Age is the main strike against him.

I am more disappointed in the owner, thinking McCarthy and maybe Rodgers make this team a contender. I don't like waiting around for Rodgers to make up his mind. That also means overpaying for some free agent vets and not getting younger.

The Steelers are not going to contend for years; they don't have a viable long-term QB, not much receiver or secondary talent, and the trenches need more on both sides of the ball.

If the Steelers can hire Nate Scheelhaase as the OC, then I'm good with McCarthy being the HC for the next 3-4 years.
That will give Nate experience being a coordinator, then as an OC/assistant head coach, before taking the HC reins (if he turns out to be as good as hoped for).
That's also assuming that McCarthy is onboard with being a mentor, in addition to his normal HC duties.

Meh. Apathy had begun to set in for me well before Tomlin stepped down and this hire really did nothing to change that. However, I've always been a wait and see guy so I guess, we'll see.

if it's YES or NO, I say NO

but it can be OK, provided Cheap ASS Rooney spends some REAL $$$ on GREAT coaches / coordinators

short of that, more average football.

you need GREAT COACHES to win, not just players

many of you lemmings don't understand that......

I will say that at least Michael Vick paid his debt to society. He served the time for the crime.

Nowhere near as loathsome as the Browns giving hundreds of millions of dollars and wrecking their franchise with a sex pest.

I am more disappointed with the owner than McCarthy. I think the owner is just mediocre, bland, sucks at running a football team, and will never be a winner. The only Lombardi he will hoist is one of the six already in the trophy case.

    Yes
    Yes, this screams KHAN!!!!

We watched this show for the past 2 years with the WR #2. Some great names get thrown out there, but end the end Khan brings in an over the hill candidate that no other team wants.

I think this is more Rooneys doing than Khan. Rooney likes the status quo, of course he wants playoff wins too but he doesn't want to take the risk of doing what it takes to get over that hump and is content with winning seasons.

Watched a YT vid there's links between MM, Khan and Weidl that go back a while. But I don't doubt Art loves this he showed his hand already in the wake of Tomlin's departure.

He is better than Flores but won’t make much of a difference. This is a sinking ship. Bad roster management has ruined this team. All that money on a crappy defense. No 2nd wr yet and dk is not that good

The fact that he didn't draft him doesn't mean anything Rodgers sat the bench his first few years, McCarthy was still Rodgers coach from the start of his career.
