Be careful what you wish for. Nutting might sell the Pirates and buy the Steelers.

    It's absolutely insane.
Any good hockey players on the Maple Leafs are gods in Toronto, but if you don't help the team win or if you suck, the media is vicious.
But even at the best of times, it's an absolute circus around the Maple Leafs. If there's no drama for a day or two, the media will invent it, then they'll spend days writing about all the drama surrounding the team.
The fans are no better. Playing in Toronto is chaotic.

A good player (Mitch Marner) recently left in free agency. He didn't leave on good terms. The fans hate him.
The media did nothing but talk about him all off season and every time the Leafs lost. Then they started winning so the talk went away. So what did the media do, they started writing articles about how no one is talking about him anymore. Yep, they literally wrote an article about something that apparently isn't happening and no longer matters.

It also doesn't help that the Leafs have a massive national following, so it's not just Toronto media, it's media and fans all over Canada. There's no escaping it. It also makes other teams fans and media organizations hate the Leafs.

Rooney is not the problem. If the Hunt’s can win Super Bowls, the Rooney’s can. The Steelers just need a Patrick Mahomes to take them to the promise land and a great coach to guide him.

More good conversations on this message board and a couple others than anywhere in major media outlets.

    Atlanta was absolutely dreadful.
But I kind of think the management of that outfit brought it on itself.
I remember when SF was a Top Notch organization..... It always made me think I needed to dress up better.
Bill Walsh was a great guy but could be testy at times... rightfully so.
After the scandal, it seemed to go downhill.

Overall, regarding media.. I would say it tough all over.
I think journalism Degrees are now handed out behind 7/11.
I remember one team had these 3 guys who had 'started a web site' were granted access... it turned out exactly as one would think.

    This.

Better than some. Worst than others.

    Probably somewhere around average.

I think part of the problem is that there's just so much more media. And everyone who wants to can have a "voice".

Much better to find a good message board (happy to have found this one this season!) and maybe a podcast or two that you like (I listen to the Terrible Podcast and usually Scout's Eye).

Aside: The actual problems this team has are (1) no QB, (2) aging defense that will be too old even if we find a young QB worth having this year or next year, and (3) an organizational mission that's all about the present over the medium to long term

    (3) was good when we had Ben...but we need to be in more of a rebuilding mode right now IMO. Not a full tank (I think they generally fail). But the focus needs to be more on developing younger guys for the medium term right now IMO.
