If the Steelers wanted Flores or McCarthy they would've signed them by now.

Theyre waiting for Shula. I could be wrong but i sort of doubt it.

 

They're at least going to talk to both of them before they make a decision... I'd imagine one of the two of these guys are their first choice. If any of the others were their top choice, they would have hired them already. It really seems like Shula or Scheelhaase are going to get the job, and if they both end up choosing a different HC gig to take (Bills or Ravens), then we will choose from the rest of the list we brought in for in-person visits (McCarthy, Flores, Weaver).

 

We will have this pre-requisite fulfilled on Friday after our in-person interview with Weaver.

I still think we're going to wait until we can get in-person interviews with Scheelhaase and Shula though. No use in making a decision until we speak to those guys too.

Yes there is a waiting period for in person interviews but not virtual in which Chris Shula already had.

Nate Scheelhaase also had a virtual interview and reports are they were impressed.

I think the McCarthy interview is mostly just doing a favor for a native son. He gets some stories in the press in case someone else is interested.

I think there's some who are good who write there, but there's far too many who lie for clicks.

Fairly certain the Steelers won't be signing him, or any HC, to a 15 yr contract. He'll get the standard 5 yr look-see. But it does beg the question, how to do let go of a HC that is suing the NFL for discrimination even if he sucks at the job?

 

That is an interesting idea about the contract Flores just signed on Wednesday with the Vikings. First, I didn't think it had anything to do with the Head Coaching interview, but after reading this, I wonder if Flores just cut ties with all NFL Teams.?

Teams that lose a minority coach or executive to a head coach or general manager job with another team will receive a third-round compensatory pick for two consecutive years, per Pelissero.

If the Steelers would sign Flores to be head Coach now, would they have to give Two 3rd round picks to the Vikings? OR, are these Comp Picks?

If they are Comp picks then this is a great move by the Vikings, getting something for nothing if Flores Leaves Now, because his contract was over at the end of the season.
