Was he telling the truth? Tomlin would not lie, about not thinking about his future would he?

Did Art II submarine him? Or did Tomlin surprise him with his decision suddenly?

I disagree with Art II. We are rebuilding the team at QB, WR, G, and S. What team that has not won a playoff game in nine years is not rebuilding?

The broom is out. Things can only improve.

It was not the time to announce his decision about his future after the game

Joel must be very insecure to need this much attention

Tomlin constantly misleads in his pressers.

I swear each thread he starts makes less sense than the one prior.

It's very strange that Tomlin hasn't had a press conference since he has resigned.

That tells me the chants and fans turning had an effect on him. No question. He is not happy and doesn’t even want to say goodbye. If he hadn’t made 100 million dollars plus I might feel a little bad for him.

I think Barber is probably telling the truth and Tomlin said it would be his last year but maybe he left it open in his mind and the chants pushed him the rest of the way. It had to be something he was already chewing on to make that decision so fast.

Agreed he was thinking about it but the bitterness he seems to be showing makes me think the Fire MT chants did exactly what they were meant to do. As I said in another post if he left 5 years earlier I certainly wouldn’t have had as much venom. It became beyond toxic.

That's possible. I mean, Tomlin is only human. Bradshaw never forgot fans cheering when he got injured, took him many years before he finally wanted to come back to Pittsburgh and address them.

    New Thread Haters!!!

    upload_2026-1-16_23-57-42.gif

I like New Threads, like those short news clips on YouTube that I can choose to open on the subjects I am interested in without having to watch the entire broadcast. I swear some of you would like a single thread called Steelers Talk that was 20,000 pages long.

17 people were asked if the press conference was any good and the results again were 9-8. Tomlin's end of season press conferences never got a negative rating in 19 years. Annually, The reporters were always kicked out after the 1st round of questions.

There is a difference between new threads, redundant threads, and look at me I need attention threads.

New threads that are actually new are great.

Redundant threads make the whole conversation disjointed.

Look at me threads seeking attention deserve the attention they get.

And there are blatantly obvious troll posts.

But I agree with your principle.

It's a matter of a poster unable to read any other material before creating a thread.
A groundbreaking unique thread topic that has been beat to HELL in the thread just below this
    so called BRILLIANT new thread.
Why can't they read the room before busting in with their idiotic EUREKA thread.
On my screen, it shows unread thread in the forum. I catch up on those first.
People throw there mouth in drive before putting their brain in gear.

sometimes these redundo threads simply can be combined

Tomlin is no longer a Steeler and any thread about him should go into

    NFL GENERAL

Maybe the chants had some effect but I think maybe he didnt want to go through the overhaul process of the roster and coaching staff that I think he knew the team needed. Getting Aaron Rodgers felt like a one last push to try and make a run and in the end he realized he just didnt have the horses. So after 19 years he probably just didnt want to start over.

I guess the question is do you believe Ronde Barber's story that Mike Tomlin was telling people that 2025 would be his last season before the season began?

    Hmmm...

Unknown. The paraphrase a saying by Chuck Noll used to say the moment you think about retirement you basically are.

If Tomlin told a non steeler or non family member that he was thinking of retirement in 2025 .... Keep it in the house.

I as I said, I think Tomlin did not write his goodbye letter on X. This would have been issued by the Steelers. Or by Tomlin himself to the fans. Jason Withlock whether you like him or not agrees.

I am guessing ChatGPT. Tomlin was too busy down in Georgia watching his daughter compete to write a goodbye letter with all the usual phrases and goodbyes.

Not a single thing in that goodbye post seems to be a Tomlinsim.

I do think this might be true as well. If not this season, there is no path forward without a deep decline during which he would be fired (not extended).
