You aren't remembering correctly. Payton retired from the Saints with a year still on his contract, was out of football for a year before going back in with Denver.

 

So you are indicating we will get draft picks??!! That would be sweet. The way I see if players were upset with Tomlin's sudden leaving. No where did I see this in Pittsburgh or Football media. Only you're showing me that it was on X which is not the best source for sports.


I still think there are things about this happening that we don't know.


At any rate this Steelers org has cleaned house on all the coaches. None of them are welcome back unless the new head coach wants them back.

Yes -- It was released by the Steelers. Not sure if Tomlin wrote it. Strage it was not covered by local or national sports media who would consider it NEWS and Tomlin's goodbye message. Only on X, which as you put it has their share of conspiracy theories.

I am looking at the post now. It is not Tomlin's handle and he is on that platform. Therefore I am not convinced he wrote it.

I think Florio is excellent when it comes to football operations and legal stuff.

Anyway he is out. Moving on to the next head coach.

 

Here is an updated report. It looks like they may get compensation if Tomlin ever returns to coaching, whenever that is. At least that's what Mike Florio is saying here.
