What restrictions is he talking about? Why cant a team hire a coach in Janurary?

I get the FA Signings not named the likes of Kenneth Gainwell and Bennett Skowronek for certain. Patrick Queen has been a swing and miss, Jalen Ramsey is likely gone, D.K. isn't a WR 1 and the likes of Patrick Peterson along with Darius Slay don't need much explanation given their time here. No argument as far as Khan's abilities in FA.

As for the draft though?! Khan has been on the money thus far. If a team can nab three players or more that are starters from a draft, that constitutes as successful. 2023 to 2025 has those (thus far in 2025's case anyways). Team is in much better standing than people think though missing that guy at the QB position still hurts all the same.

Getting the Head Coach right is the first thing that needs addressed. Nabbing the QB comes next. If the Steelers can hit on both?! I would say one to two more home run drafts and the team will be in Championship Contention again.

Teams in the playoffs I believe. I don't believe teams can hire Coaches who are currently on Playoff Teams. Given how the Steelers have reached out to two Rams Coaches, I suspect that is where the Rooney's will search as far as candidates go.

I’m guessing he was thinking of the restrictions on talking to coaches who are still in the playoffs and the SB being in February

The Browns helped them build a Steelers game when they traded the farm for Watson.

The Browns now regret doing so as well. Not saying you are wrong. Houston made out like bandits.

I think your going to have to go with one of these young coordinators. The problem for Pitt is they have no QB and they dont really have a high draft pick, so its hard to attract some of the proven older coaches.

Well... that and the Steelers have not hired a Head Coach with Head Coaching experience since Buddy Parker circa 1957. QB or no QB, the Rooney's have a formula that they believe works. Rather, Dan Rooney was the guy who had that formula that was proven to work. Jury is very much out on AR II.

He isn't going to rush it though (something that shouldn't shock anyone) so that is a good sign to begin with. Still, have to get the right one. Have to hope for the best.

It was funny. The beating his chest and kiss off may have cost him a job here. :lolol:

    I did.

Dude is one of the more badass Owners in Sports. He takes his job seriously but not much else; a rarity among Sports Billionaires. It also helps that Bisciotti is arguably the most forward thinking Owner in the NFL as well.

He and Harbaugh have collectively created new Coaching Jobs over the years; Pass Rushing Specialist, Coaching Research Engineer, Director of Football Information and something called the Director of Football Strategy. Outside of Pass Rushing Specialist, haven't the foggiest of what entails of the rest. I do know though that, since 2018, both those two were trend setters in the NFL and the Ravens have one hell of a Front Office Staff.

That all said, starts at the top. By no means a Ravens fan at all but it would be disrespectful not to give credit where it is due. Steve is a one of one.

I knew what he meant. It is still a stupid simile. Or is it a metaphor? Either way it is bad writing and an inane statement. If their writing is that bad, why would I trust their random opinions?

If you’re asking me to trust your opinions, which is the point of almost every writer, than maybe make sure you don’t sound like an idiot.

And, yes, I see what I’ve set myself up for there.

I get it now, these interview requests are only for currently employed coaches.

Any coaches that have been fired, or their contract has expired at the end of the NFL Season, can stop by the Steelers office anytime they want.

I would still like to see Kevin Stefanski pop into Pittsburgh, but I have a feeling Khan may block Kevin's interest in the job if he wants more control than he had in Cleveland.

The offense guy from the Rams seems to check a lot of boxes that Cowher and Tomlin did.

    Young
    Sub Coordinator level
Insiders indicate he’s a strong leader
Insiders also think it’s a year or two too early (same was said about Cowher and Tomlin)

Many parallels but lots of differences as well.

Captain would likely be the rank.
Commander (Commanding Officer) is the job position in this case.

But you are right the commanding officer of any vessel is said to be the captain. Or ‘Skipper’ in Dutch.

The last battle fought between battleships and the first battle fought between aircraft carriers occurred in the same war.

The last battle in history fought between battleships was the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.

The first battle fought between carriers was the Battle of Coral Sea in 1942.

You have a good point, I’ll bet the battleship commander for the Japanese carried himself differently than the battleship commander for the Americans…..
