A colorful way of saying he is an alpha that will command the respect of his men. A true leader.

Im hoping for someone who has a vision or who will embrace an OC that has one and makes it happen rather than wiping the slate clean each year.

More like the Steelers need to get with the times.

    It would be.

.... then Scheelhaase would opt to go elsewhere given that he will be a hot commodity as a Head Coach soon should he succeed.

Only happens if he is successful in developing a good offence in Pittsburgh. Isn’t that the goal?

If you have a good coordinator you should be developing good assistants behind them to mitigate them getting poached.

Just bring in the best guys you can and don’t worry about it imo.

I don't see a single Head Coach on the list. AKA Just Fired.
To me Stephanski just got out of a relationship with a team where the Owner and the GM were making way to many Player Roster Decisions, would he really want to some to the Steelers where he would once again be facing the same type of control problems. Khan and Art are going no where.

It was mentioned in a talk about Harbaugh, that he would probably only be interested in a team that did NOT already have a GM in place. I don't know if this is a common requirement for former Head Coaches that want to build their entire staff with a lot of people thay have already worked with.

    A $20 million salary, a $10 million staff budget, and—the ultimate dealbreaker—final say over the 53-man roster.

On ESPN's "The Really Big Show", host Aaron Goldhammer highlighted the friction, noting that Harbaugh "wants to select his own GM." This seemingly non-negotiable is proof of the "Berry Barrier" I wrote about previously here on The Sporting News.

If it were only that easy.

Philly is finding that out the hard way.

Fair point, but if they’re going with a defensive minded HC that’s the risk you take.

    True.

However, the Offense suffers as a result for the OC wouldn't be the only one getting looks. This Scheelhaase is a Passing Game Coordinator and he is getting looks. It wouldn't be just the OC on the Offensive Staff.

    True.

All the more reason Pittsburgh needs to get with the times. Just merely having a CEO Type Head Coach such as both the Harbaughs or even Tomlin isn't gonna cut it anymore.

What is this coaching tree concept you speak of?

I see a huge potential for a lot of losing going with both a hc and an oc that have never done either job at the professional level.

He would be a really good one. Heard great things about him (and a lot of McVey Passing Game Coords. end up being quality NFL coaches).

I meant it from a good coaching perspective not as some sort of familiar continuation.

Or it could go great. It’s working in Chicago.

Im more concerned with finding a QB.

I read today that Rooney was ok running it back. If that’s true thank God Tomlin pulled the plug!! But that makes me feel Rooney is delusional about what the state of affairs truly was. Hope he turns the reigns over soon to the next generation.

Yeah, the QB thing is kind of important. Who knows how the unknown of that position might affect a coaches decision to join the Steelers? Like if they’ve interviewed with other teams that have a more attractive QB room? It certainly doesn’t work in our favor.

OK, Looks like they want to go Defense minded.... Shula absolutely fine. The Rest PLEASE NO!

As i wrote in other Threads. If a DC will be the next HC, why on earth no one talks about Burke or Joseph? Both would hype me a lot more then Shula.

I would prefer an OC (LeFleur) as HC. But if it should be a DC i would love Matt Burke. Every second...

HC Matt Burke and bring in Davis Webb or Scheelhaase as the new OC.
