Ive been saying this team feels like 2005. Team looked questionable but got hot late. But you know who looks EXACTLY like our 2005 team? THE TEXANS.

Looked TERRIBLE early. GREAT DEFENSE CARRIED a middling offense. Lead by a young talented QB that had not proven himself elite. LONG winning streak to make the playoffs as a wildcard team. The league underrated our 2005 team too. If they shocked the league and won it all, denying Allen "his turn" just like we did Peyton?

I was feeling really good until THIS came to mind. Thoughts?

Yeah, I dunno.. not seeing it really. 2005, Ben missed about a month and then came back and was rusty and we lost some games.. when he was healthy again, we went on the 4 game winning streak to close out the season. That was largely the same 15-1 team from the previous year, minus Burress, but getting Hampton back from injury. Just not seeing that kind of talent on Houston. Not saying we win, but i have a hard time seeing Houston making the Super Bowl.

The only difference between in 2004 vs 2005,the steelers peak at the right time in 2005 vs in the middle of the season in 2004....Yeah you are right when you said that 2005 was very similar to the 15-1 2004 team!

How many “good” teams did we beat in the 2005 regular season? In 2004 we beat the best teams we played in the regular season.
While we cannot see the Texans winning the SB, neither could non-Steeler fans see us doing it in 2005.
Fun fact. While everyone disrespects their ability to score, the Texans scored more that BOTH the 2005 AND the 2025 Steelers.

Frankly, as to their chances, while I would favor the Bills, I would not be shocked if ANY AFC team made it to the SB.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Texans made the Superbowl, I think them and the Jags are the two best teams in the conference going into the playoffs.

Most think Texans will win but people still want to go. Cheapest tickets are $177.

heck, the last browns game last year had tickets as low as $5. Hot dogs at the stadium were $8.
that’s right, Cleveland home game ticket was less than a hot dog.

I know Panthers lost but I bet most their fans thought it'd be an ass kicking. They got their money's worth.

Not to mention that it's been proven that the Patriots cheated when they beat the Steelers in the AFCCG for the 2004 season.

The Bills might be a better comparison to the 2005 Steelers.

The Bills, like the Steelers, have knocked on the door many times over the years without ever reaching the ultimate goal. But if the Bills win this year, the 2005 Steelers will be the perfect comparison for them, especially since they are the 6th seed. But just like the 2005 Steelers, the Bills are much better than their seed. The only major difference is that the Bills have never been in danger of missing the playoffs this year.

Well let's hope we get the bad CJ Stroud just like the bad Trevor Lawrence that showed up yesterday. They are both QB's who sometimes look great and then look like a rookie at other times.

Dome team playing in winter outdoor conditions offers higher likelihood for turnovers and missed kicks. That should be the difference in this game since the two teams are evenly matched, defense vs offense of each other.

I think one good thing about tonight is that (1) the Steelers have been pretty random all year and (2) recently, they've really come out to play in games wehre I thought they'd get stomped (e.g. Lions and Rats).

I don't think we can make a run to the SB. I also think we're more likely to lose than win. But, it's probably the best chance we've had to win a playoff game since the last home game (which didn't go well).

I think our defense has been playing better run defense lately and the pass defense has mostly been better as well, aside from a few hiccups.

Question is AR, will he stop with the 2 yard passes and start stretching the field early? I think it comes down to Qb and the OL’s today. Who's is better

With a 1-8 playoff record since being drafted in 2011, Heyward understands the franchise's playoff futility better than most. Our defense has absolutely been boat raced since 2017 in playoff games.

You can look it up. If Football is the 100 yard war, our general Mike Tomlin reeks of playoff defeat since 2011. He brings his captain's old man Rodgers, old man Heyward and purple heart TJ Watt into battle today.

We shall see. The Texans can lay an egg and we can win this game off turnovers. That is the mostly likely happening if we are to win.

I see it is going to be around 33 tonight in Pittsburgh. Any idea of winds? Philly had same winds we had 70 miles south yesterday and they were frigging strong.

This is our best shot to win a playoff game in a long time.

Would be nice to end the first quarter and not be down. 21-0.

Idk...I don't like to compare years or teams. I'm one of the few that can see the Texans making the run to the SB. I know they are overwhelming favorites to win tonight over us. They beat the Bills. They split with the Jags. The destroyed the Ravens. This is a good football team. I don't know why anyone would take them lightly or think they don't have a shot.

We’re going to win an ugly 11-10 slobberknocker with three FGs and a safety.

FWIW, I think with the Texans front 4 we need to be mostly getting the ball out early. Do to them what teams have been doing to use to nullify our pass rush.

I do hope we can hit on some explosive pass plays. But I think it's more likely to be getting DK (or even Austin) the ball quickly in space so they can YAC.

Frustrate their pass rush by getting rid of the ball before they can get to AR.

It's going to be unacceptable if the Steelers are down by 21 points at one point for the 7th playoff game in a row

I'm sure there will be a lot of getting the ball out of Rodgers' hands quickly, but I think this is a game where Arthur Smith needs to move away from tendencies. This is a classic case of making several strategic moves at critical times of a game where they change up a route in a familiar formation and within a play that roasts the Texans' defense. I think Smith needs to go max protect on a few occasions to give Rodgers the time to take a deep shot when the matchup is there.

This is the classic game where they are playing a very good defense, and creativity and some new wrinkles can really take advantage of what the Texans' defense thinks they know is coming and aggressively move on that.

A good mix the running game and play action passing on first downs could help to put the offense in favorable positions and put the Texans on their heels.

Arthur Smith could have a huge role in giving this offense opportunities to hit some chunk plays. Aaron Rodgers also needs to identify when some of those opportunities arise to be able to take advantage of them. The Steelers established injecting Freiermuth and Calvin Austin into the mix. They get Metcalf back for this game. The Texans have a little more to worry about than they did a week ago.

I'm really interested to see how they attack the Texans defense tonight.
