True, but in Tomlin's entire tenure, we've never had a coaching staff like that, so I doubt it'll change.

I don't want retreads if Tomlin leaves; I want a really good young offensive coach who isn't afraid to surround himself with top-notch assistants, but of course, that's hard to find sometimes.

i'm sticking with matching up proven minds with the players we have. sure there will be a change here and there but the 3 i quoted have been proven to know the game. as OC and QB coach guden wouldn't have to worry about anything else but howard and the offense. that's his strength. matt patricia would have to worry about the defense again his strength and nothing else. mike munchak would worry about the offensive line and nothing else. all proven and very good at what they would be asked to do. i want a head coach that would let them cook not try to change what these guys know. i want a guy to surround himself with talented coaching and not make it a power struggle. just a guy to make it work together. get a super star staff and not worry about a superstar player here and there. these guys will make the players better.

When did we get a HOF caliber Head Coach? I hope you're not referring to Tomlin. Yuck.

We don't have a viable number two receiver and no long term solution at QB and the defense is getting long in the tooth. The days of next man up and not missing a beat are long gone.

We have some future on defense that are not long in the tooth. The D-line is on a first contract except heyward. Holcomb, queen, wilson are all under 30. Herbig, Sawyer are young. Jpj, pierre, echols, kent, porter, jamison, castro, dugger, samuel, are all well under 30. Many backups are young. The staff, MT, won't or doesn't put them in position to succeed. He doesn't trust them enough. That's a tomlin problem. I keep saying he likes gets because he doesn't have to coach them. He coaches players instead of football.

I do believe will howard can be the long term answer. Skylar could be a long term answer too. These young players have to be coached. This staff coaches last to me.

Just dont like these retread coaches. Rarely works out. They dont have much if any gas left in the tank and sometimes come with baggage (Like Gruden). We need a good OC ready to make the jump to HC.

as far as turning out the lights? Two must wins we lost in impressive fashion. Yeah, the fat lady is getting ready…

The 2025 party is about over. It is almost time to see what we have in Howard.

And for the new HC. I recommend Kilint Kubiak. A sharp OC with NFL family bloodlines.

What I dont want is a college coach that has no NFL experience.

I want someone that has coached at this level. Kubiak, LaFleur, Robinson, Brady, Cooter, Frank Smith are some good names to start with.

This would be the opportunity. Khan has had some whiffs but he and Weidl have done well in terms of drafting. People putting the Metcalf trade on Khan is short sighted anyways. That call was 100% on Tomlin. As for the new coach?! Couldn't agree more.

Thing is, Tomlin would need to leave on his own terms. Beyond that?! Best of luck.

It's always a hot topic after a loss.
There is plenty of blame to go around here too.
If I were a new owner that purchased this team this morning, what would I do?

The front office is #1 on the list because it is not too crazy to rebuild it.
We've had a WR issue that is uncalled for, and for 2-years in a row it is a glaring hole.
A lot of people want to give a pass, but right here, right now is a prime example of how neglect will bite you...
In my book, Omar gets sent packing and Wiedl is the guy (providing he has a vision that we can agree upon) and I would bestow the proper authority he needs to do his job.

There are plenty of young guns out there that are far better options than retreads like Gruden etc....
So, Weidl and myself work a lot of interviews as access allows.
The wrench in the gears is Tomlin's contract.. but I think a good angle would be to impose mandatory changes to his staff.
If he doesn't accept then we move on from him.
Why? I actually think Tomlin refuses to accept his strengths which is being able to guide the ship and keeping letting his staff do their jobs.
At this point, after so many years, the opposition knows him and knows what he does so it is just as easy to move on from him.
The problem with that train of thought is, "The Steeler Way"

What does this team need? (On the field)
Quarterback for sure. That is the #1 item that needs addressed.
To give the QB the best chance we need a good o-line, we have that.
Now the QB needs some weapons.. WR has been grossly neglected here.. probably one of the worst cases of neglect I've seen is some time. (decades?)
We have a decent ground game.

Defense? Another case of neglect but in a different way. We have too much funding allocated and it needs balanced. Along with the misallocations, we have some age.

Total rebuild. It's a pipe dream that will not happen. The 'almost for sure' outcome will be the same coaches will walk out on the field with the same front office guys starring down from the box. All those eyes will see the same thing, groundhog day.

Agree especially with more than enough character issues on the field already.

Could not have written a better script. NFL gets another game and a flexed game no less. There were two calls minimal that looked so obvious . Text book pass interference game at the end with ref standing right there. Cam Heywards roughing the passer was absolute dog ****. The NFL just experienced the best orgasm ever. " Winner Takes All" headline
