Can you and JEH get together and post a Steelers Press Release where they have said they are waiving the Clause in his contract? As far as I know the Steelers have said nothing, because they don't have too.

I have not seen anything on the Steelers website talking about the clause in the contract. The Steelers have announced they are behind DK, but there is nothing in writing about releasing him from the clause in his contract that could void his future guaranteed money.

Is the OP's question whether the Steelers should cut Metcalf or will cut Metcalf. I don't believe they will cut him.

I think DK has $132 million reasons he doesn’t give AF what he did.

It's 100% something they should consider.

He's approaching 30, which is a difficult age for NFL players. With that said, he's not a burner, so the fall off might not affect him as much or as early. Still, they should consider all options.

Can they cut him and replace him with someone just as good or better for cheaper? Can they replace him with someone better for more money? Can they replace him at all?

These are things a GM should consider. I'm going to guess they won't cut him, but they're dumb if they don't consider it an option.

I didn't bring it up this time, but people keep bringing it up because it is relevant. I wanted them to keep both, but clearly, they chose the wrong guy. It may manifest differently, but Metcalf is every bit as immature, stupid and selfish as Pickens, and it cost the Steelers their season.

Who cares that he regrets it? He hasn't gone after a fan before, but this is not the first time he lost his head during a game and did something stupid and selfish. The guy has been kicked out of two NFL games for fighting. This didn't come out of nowhere. It's who he is.

Man. I hope we unload him, his extremely high cap #, and his bad production for a 1 receiver.

If we can trade him and have another team take his contact as is, I would be for it…even for a 7th round pick. I’ll take the cap relief in a new York minute

He has given team disgrace along with a cap boat anchor.

    ??

Before yesterday, Metcalf has 59 catches on 100 tgts. He's No.1 on the team in both.

They had the opportunity to void his guaranteed $45M and decided not to, so I'm assuming they want to keep him here.

He's not number one in percent of catches to targets.

Again, 6 players were targeted 20+. Out of the percent of catches, he's 5th.

yes, you cut him he screwed us over. He had no reason to stroll over and get involved with a fan it's so stupid. Let's see our draft coming up QB-- WR --WR WR WR WR WR --all who don't have emotional problems or are butterfingers and can actually run routes. I don't care if Decalin or dickwad or DK can run the best routes ever --What is he doing now...F-NG his team because of nothing.

    What was the stupid decision?

It started with the idea to bring on Rogers for an obvious 1-year ride for a chance at glory.
We armed him with blanks and sent him to the OK corral.
Rogers overperformed for a 40+ QB with very little talent to enhance the deteriorating skills.

Ideally, you want to keep his arm fresh and limit passing attempts. To take advantage of those limited attempts, you need to have some WR's.
You also want to run that ball. We've done that somewhat but still seem to abandon the run.
We did protect him fairly well which adds to the frustration of the neglect to the WR's crew.
Then the unthinkable happened, DK gets suspended in the heat of the playoff run... literally providing the death blow to the team. This is what we brought him here for, to get us through this time of season.

Yes, in a real world, I revoke his money and I cut him.

Was/is there some deadline to revoke his guaranteed money? If not, why do anything now? Technically we’re still alive. What if we win Sunday night and he plays like a madman in the playoffs to help the team actually break through its postseason drought and win an extra or two?

Is there any need for the team to take immediate action on his contract?

I was riffing on the assumption we miss the playoffs.
If we get into the playoffs, then we have to have a serious conversation.

Metcalf is a weapon, that is easy to see. But quite simply, what he did in Detroit ran a dagger right through the heart of our ariel game.
    He literally sabotaged us.
He is on the plus side of 30.
I think all that weighed strikes a balance where we can go a different direction.
The problem really is in Omar - can he find WR's? Finally? Can he find a QB?
And of course, coaching: Why does this happen again and again?
