My thoughts on reg season wk 14

1. Did anyone really think this wasn't coming down to the wire

2. Patrick queen was seriously motivated

3. DK Metcalf....... we missed you

4. O-line was very good pass blocking, but run blocking left a lot to be desired

5. Extremely close call on the likely td, but it was the right one

6. Speaking of the likely td that wasn't,... great job by Joey Porter jr knocking that ball out

7. Despite the win, the defense was still washed on the ground and in the air....... that won't fly for game 2 against these guys

8. James Pierre has been a pleasant surprise lately

9. Offense was way to predictable down the stretch

10. One of either Andrus Peat or Broderick Jones has to be healthy next wk

11. Hope Darnell Washington can get back soon

 

12. Defense plays well in the first half. Total collapse in the 2nd half.

How many times have the Steelers led going into halftime only to be destroyed in the 2nd half?

Glad it didn't happen today. Defense did just enough

 

Nice to win a big game for a change

 

An opinion: Disagree with #5. That happened to Steelers this board would implode. Glad Porter stayed with it.

 

Payton Wilson made some great tackles today.

Rodgers gives me heart palpitations with how close he runs down that clock every play.

Kaleb got 2 rushes today for 4 yards (1 was a loss). Would really like to find a way to work him in more.

The passing game was much different today. Rodgers was far far better than the last couple of weeks IMO.

I would have loved a prop bet on Rodgers to score a rushing td and catch a pass. Could have bet $1 and made millions! lol

 

It’s funny how they weren’t even considering Echols and Pierre to play a lot of snaps this year, and yet they are the best corners we got after Joey.

Is Brandin Echols the best corner on the team? Yeah, no but--

When is Harbaugh going to start feeling the heat? Hmm?

This team has no sense of momentum whatever, good or bad, so it is hard to predict what is going to happen the rest of the way. However, these ain't your 2000 Ravens here (despite their reunion today). If the Steelers go 2-1 in the next 3, and the Ravens go 1-2, the finale won't matter. Seems doable.

 

Well that was shocking and surprising!!

 

Possible reasons:

• Injuries to key players before the half
• Offense makes adjustments, defense fails to adjust
• Aged players are gassed
• Offense can't sustain drives, puts defense on field too much

 

I think we would be mad, but it is the same rule no matter where you are on the field. It just so happened to be in the EZ this time. As long as the rule is enforced equally, it would certainly be frustrating and we would be bitching about how our receiver must hold onto that......but I think the anger would be aimed more at the receiver and not the rule.

 

Isn’t BroJo out for the year?

 

Great win but I completely disagree with Arthur Smith’s play calling. We went down the field fast in the first half with more passing. Second Smth must had a brain issue. He went back to the running game which didn’t work all game. The when we had 3 and 19 he calls a lateral pass and we barely make it to the scrimmage line. Now here is a guy with a not so good track record calling the plays. If I were Rodgers e would have called my own play. What are they going do to me. Fir me I’m under contract.

 

Are there any other heavy run teams in the league?
I would like to think these past two games were more indicative of the opponents strength in the run game.

 

Felt like we did just enough to win, on both sides of the ball, and I'm ok with that. We gotta run the ball better and defend the run better. Felt this was the best the offense looked since the 1st Cincinnati game. I'll enjoy the dubbya.

 

I don't know if it is part of the gameplan or not, but it seems Steelers always run play clock way down--- I saw it with Ben too

Yeah, that throw irritated me. 3rd and 19 you basically throw the ball one or two yards and then depend on your runner to go 17 yards for a first down........arrrrgggggh

 

The game showed we have a few good pieces in place for next year,

O line, TE’s, JP jr, Pierre, Highsmith with better coaching….
