I'll grant that I'm old and may not remember things accurately (I did check stats, but might not remember all context). If so, feel free to correct me, but...

Jennings was their only 1000 yard receiver that year IIRC.

You could argue Nelson was emerging. But he wasn't near his peak yet and had less than 600 yards that year.

Jones was a journeyman at best.

Driver was declining rapidly and also had less than 600 yards that year.

Not exactly the 4 horsemen there.

we just aren’t a team that wins with X’s and O’s … we rely heavily on our athletes making amazing plays.

Hit the "dislike" option when quoting this not for you but for the Steelers who think, even with the way they have been playing, it was still cool to play "Renegade". It has not been the same in years, Renegade has lost its luster, no opposing team fears it anymore.

This year we are getting blown away in the second half. No Ben or prime Watt to take over games anymore.

Those receivers weren't great in the game, either. They dropped way too many passes, which was the only reason it was close. Rodgers was unstoppable that day. It's a damn shame to see him going out there, being a shell of his former self.

I guess you forgot how good Rodgers was back then and Green Bay was the favorite in that game.

Yeah. Odd, that. Considering the Packers were a 10-6 wildcard. Rodgers was good, true. But finished 7th overall in passing. He wasn't "MVP" good... yet. The strength of their team that year was their defense. They were not a juggernaut by any stretch of the imagination. The Steelers were 12-4. The number 2 seed. And had the statistical best defense that year.

    What did Vegas know? Hmmmm?

Could it be they saw the cracks forming on our defense that some of us saw? That we could not get off the field on 3rd down unless the other team made a mistake??? (A problem that has followed us ever since) Oh, we were told we were being hypercritical then. We have the best defense!!! There's nothing to worry about.

Bottom line, we should have been favored if we were as good for real as we were on paper. But we weren't. Why? And we played like absolute hot garbage in that game and STILL almost pulled it out in the end. It was the beginning of our torment. That game. Everything we complain about started then and there. But we were so high on 2 Superbowl wins in recent years, we just didn't want to see it. It was smoke and mirrors.

I told myself if we had to lose, at least it was to the Packers. I respected that team because they played football similar to us with a hard nosed defense. Great fan base. All of the history in the world.

And we played horribly. The Packers weren't "great" that game. But they played like the better team. Yeah, Rodgers shredded us. Some of that was because he's very good. Some of it was because our "Number 1" defense wasn't up to the task.

What pray tell has showing that a player has run for over 240 yards against Cowhers team have anything to do with Tomlin???
I defended Cowher from all the stupidity at the time also. Because I've seen it before. What I don't do is let my feelings interfere with facts.
My whole understanding of football isn't amounted to , the coach sucks.
I like to talk football with people that actually understand what they are seeing, and it is very hard to do so when 80 % can't tell see simple stuff like the difference between a screen, and a dump off, or zone , and man coverage. It make it difficult to actually talk football with them, and their total knowledge cones down to ......it didn't work therefore it sucks.

Just because I know more than some of the people posting about football doesn't mean much.
You do know that over one million people play football in HS every year, and over 80 thousand people play football every year in college. Every year. I can't help it the loudest mouths on this board are clueless, but that's the way of the world, the dumbest speak the loudest. I speak on things I know, not what I believe, want to believe, or feel. Just because a HC changes things doesn't mean it will work, but that doesn’t mean they don't change things.
There are many people who have a unhealthy obsession with Tomlin, and yet I'm called the Lover. LoL. Makes me laugh. I talk football, and the obsessed talk Tomlin.
It reminds me of Trump. Millions of people love Trump, and millions hate Trump, but both sides are more obsessed with Trump than the actual goings-on in America. It's crazy, and that's how the mindless have made Steelers football. It's not about actual football, it become about Tomlin, and I won't have anything to do with stupidity of it. I talk football, not obsession. I've said 5 million times if they fired Tomlin tomorrow, it wouldn't bother me, I will still talk about football, but no matter who they hire, the dumbest people will complain because they don't actually know what they are looking at, they just know if it works or not.
