I love when people do this. They say they are done with the debate and paint it in such a way as their opponent just doesn’t understand them and then they take one last jab to get the last word in all because their offended. It’s called closed minded thinking with a defensive arrogance to prevent any consideration one could actually be wrong.

Look what Dallas parlayed the parsons trade into. They have multiple first round picks in the upcoming draft. They bolstered the interior of the defensive line. It opened up cap space to make trades and sign Williams from the Jets at DT to further bolster their defensive front.

it was foolish for the Steelers to extend Watt. The timing of it in position to where the Steelers are at as an organization, where the league is at with offense vs defense and where Watt is at in his career made the signing a very bad decision for the organization. To add insult to it we already have a cheaper replacement for Watt with Herbig.

We are in rebuild mode and it would have been nice to have the salary cap space and additional draft capital from a Watt trade to help, with that. Unfortunately the organization is tied down by one man’s (Tomlin’s), delusion to prevent any consideration proper rebuild. This has been going on ever since Ben R’s later years. This way of thinking caused us to handle Ben poorly and keep him beyond his production. It left us without a proper QB plan post Ben and we have been suffering and making poor decisions ever since then.

I was u-set at the time of the draft when we -assed up in both the CB’s the Eagles drafted. But now in hindsight drafting Fautanu has worked out. He is probably going to turn out to be our best OL and we needed an OT. Who would be the RT now if we didn’t draft Fautanu? I don’t think this was on Khan either. Tomlin is driving this ship and that includes final decision on draft selections.

I agree with everything you are saying here with the exception of blaming it on Khan. This is 100% a Tomlin decision.

‘You spelled out exactly what the issue is at the end. Tomlin gives the directive and Khan fulfills the order. I highly doubt there is much pushback from Khan. It’s very obvious what the hierarchy is. Darius Slay is a better example of this. Tomlin has been chasing him for years.

‘you are correct it is a major problem. It was h=the same issue in New England. Belicheck got to big for the organization. I believe it’s exactly the situation with Tomlin here. I think Tomlin dominates the personnel decisions and the on field coaching decisions. I don’t think he rules with an iron fist but I just think his tenure and large personality overshadow everything to the extent there is very little pushback from coordinators or from Khan or Wiedl.

‘I believe Weidl and Khan are told what we need from a player /position upgrade perspective and they go and find guys and present them to Tomlin. I believe they have a bigger influence on talent evaluation when it comes to the draft but with free agency I believe Tomlin has his favorites and he heavily influences the signings.
