It was really apparent in this game what a beast Washington is. Defenders looked like bugs swarming around him as they tried to pull him down.

On Rodger's scramble for a first, he was running with the ball clutched in his right hand. He was committed to the run at that point. He needs to tuck that thing so that he is not a pursuing LB'ers wet dream. That is going to be a fumble every time running with the ball like that if someone comes from behind.

Ramsey Ramsey Ramsey. What in the hell were you thinking man? Far too much experience under his belt to get pulled into that nonsense. Someone in the game thread mentioned that he might see an additional game suspension due to the punch. I hope not, but would not be surprised.

After the Ramsey ejection, I did not think that our defense suffered much, if any. I was fully expecting to see the Bengal's receivers get aggressive. They filled in and covered nicely.

We got a lead and did not do that BS prevent defense that gives up points like a Kmart blue light special was going on!

This was a must win game IMO. Now it is time to cheer on the Browns!

Must be a lot easier for the O line to protect him. He stays mostly in the pocket. They know where their QB is. Rodgers was squirting out a lot. He is old, so I can understand not wanted to get hit. I do think he is hearing footsteps, especially against teams with a good pass rusher.

I think that IS WHY he looks done. I believe, (because I also believed) he came to Pittsburgh because he thought the line protecting him would be much better than it actually is. Or is poor coaching of it and the offensive scheme the bigger issue?

I’m just seeing a guy who’s realized that his supporting cast isn’t going to be what Peyton Manning had in Denver and he was hoping for that. So,
now he’s going through the motions. Next is completely phoning it in.

    Mason and Howard stepping forward.

Felt like I was dancing with myself on draft night after we got him. I believed in his size, skill set and pedigree.

Glad he’s here and seemingly well liked. He and Muth should be targeted much more in this stinky offense.

    Same.

Never lost faith in Darnell myself. People tend to forget that Tight End isn't an easy position to play and is arguably the most difficult non QB Position to perform on Offense. Left Tackle is another for certain but finding even a good Tight End is now roughly on par or slightly more difficult than finding a good Left Tackle. Tight Ends have to perform a multitude of tasks.

Darnell seems to be up to the challenge. For that matter, I expect Darnell to be the feature TE moving forward as the Winter Approaches.

Would agree the defense showed up again. The only glimmer of hope IMO.

I am not too optimistic about our final 7 games because of the offense. Maybe we finish 3-4. Another MT no-losing season at 9-8.

Single blocked a large percentage of the time. Herbig is our best pass rusher now.

He's like a Mack Truck hitting a Le Car. And has soft hands ala Eric Green. That stiff arm was wild!

It is a mystery for sure. But i'm glad Gainwell is a Steeler. At least one ex Eagle has been playing well.

Mason has about 25 good passes in him in a game. More than that and it's likely not gonna be a good outcome.

The Steelers defense scored more points than the Bengals offense, I bet nobody had that on their bingo card.

Rudolph is fine against bad defenses, which is what he faced today. Rodgers spent the first half making the Bengals look better than they really are. Rudolph missed a few throws, which tells you just how many opportunities there were in the second half.

This is good stuff, but you left out Dugger. He was a huge part of this victory, and not just because of the pick-six. He made some key tackles and he has helped to stabilize the secondary. When Tomlin was asked about the difference between this game and the first one, he mentioned stability at safety. Clearly, Thornhill was a huge liability. Maybe safety play caused more problems than we realized in the loss to the Bengals. It was clearly a huge problem in the loss to the Packers. Adding Dugger was huge.

The officials were horrible, including missing Chase spitting on Ramsey. They let the Bengals' left tackle leave early all day long. I understand guys get away with on occasion, but that was insane.

That said, Ramsey needs to be smarter. He just can't be that selfish and stupid.

I agree with you regarding Watt. They weren't even doubling him all that often. He just isn't beating his guy. That huge contract they gave him was a massive mistake.

Regarding Warren, remember that he was injured early in the second half. If I remember correctly, he was only back on the field once after that, and they ended up calling a timeout rather than running the play. I agree that they should be using him more, but I think the injury was a huge limiting factor today. Gainwell made some huge plays and Johnson looked good on a few runs, but they need Warren.

I don't know what has gotten into Pierre, but he has been excellent of late. They might be better off leaving him in there over Slay.

If we can score two defensive touchdowns per game, we are going places. Ten point swings all day.
